Tossing Salt Presents:
Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory 2018
Thoughts & Predictions
October 12, 2018
Coming up this weekend is Impact Wrestling’s biggest show of the year, Bound For Glory. It’s live on Sunday night and available on pay-per-view. Even though I’m admittingly not as up on the Impact / TNA storylines as I should be and am not really a big fan of the company, there are a couple of people at Impact I like to keep my eyes on, plus the shows are almost always good even if no one is bothering to watch them. Let’s do some predictions for the matches announced.
Concrete Jungle Death Match
The Latin American Xchange (Santana, Ortiz and Konnan) vs. The OGz (Hernandez, Homicide and King)
I’m not exactly sure what a “Concrete Jungle Death Match” is, but I’m assuming that it’s just another fancy name for an anything goes street fight. I’ve kind of half-way kept up with this feud because I’m a fan of Homicide and Hernandez and I don’t like Konnan and like to see him get his ass kicked any chance I can. He was a “strawberry” back in WCW and he’s still one now. His words, not mine. That jackass! But back to this match. Look for lots of craziness and chaos and some smoke & mirrors since I don’t think Konnan can take any kind of bumps due to his kidney problems a few years ago. And who will win? So long as it’s not Konnan, I’m cool so let’s give the OGz this one.
Winners: OGz (Hernandez, Homicide & King)
Impact World Championship Match
Austin Aries (c) vs. Johnny Impact
The man who does what he wants and walked out of WWE because he felt disrespected for being part of the 205 Brand verus the man once known as John Morrison and Johnny Nitro and who will be appearing on Survivor this upcoming season. Both men can go and this should be one hell of a match, but unless they’re planning on just hot-shotting the title or else using Morrison (Impact) as a transitional champion, there will not be a title change happening here. Morrison has the Survivor thing coming up, not to mention movie obligations and his role at the Lucha Underground company so how the hell would he have time to be the Impact World Champion? Wait, I just answered my own question and realized something. Morrison going on Survivor, carrying the Impact World Championship title belt with him, would be great advertising and publicity for the company and let’s be honest, they need all the help they can get. Title change is happening here.
Winner and NEW Impact World Champion: Johnny Impact (Morrison, Nitro, Hennigan, etc)
oVe Rules Match
Ohio Versus Everything (Dave Crist, Jake Crist and Sami Callihan) vs. Brian Cage, Fénix and Pentagón Jr.
I was born in Ohio. My family lives in Ohio. Sami Callihan is one kick-ass, bad mo-fo. And it’s oVe rules, whatever they are. So I have to go with the home team here.
Winners: Ohio Versus Everything (Save & Jake Crist & Sami Callihan)
Eddie Edwards vs. Moose
I don’t get this one. Who the hell calls their child “Moose”? Actually, I know a guy named “Moose” and he’s a good guy, really cool and works as an EMT. I don’t think that these two are the same guys though. He needs to find a tag partner named “Squirrel” and then they can fight a couple of Russians, managed by “Fearless Leader” and we can get some great promos about “Moose & Squirrel”. I’d enjoy that anyways. As for this match, I don’t do Moose. Eddie Edwards is damn good in the ring and should take this one rather easily.
Winner: Eddie Edwards
Impact Knockout’s Championship Match
Tessa Blanchard (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie
I love Taya’s name and I’m a big fan of Norse mythology, but I don’t think that even the powers of Odin could help her here. Tessa is the real deal, a second generation talent who’s well on her way to being every inch the performer her father and step-father both were in that ring. It’s just a matter of time before she’s in the WWE, teaming with Charlotte and raising those four fingers in the air and paying homage to their fathers. For now though, she’s the Knockout’s Champ and she’s not losing that title anytime soon.
Winner: Tessa Blanchard
Matt Sydal and Ethan Page vs. Rich Swann and Willie Mack
Willie Mack is making his Impact Wrestling debut here so there is no way he’s losing this match and Sydal / Page won’t be hurt by the loss. If anything, the heat will just make them more entertaining and motivated in their bad ass ways. Swann and Mack take the win here.
Winners: Rich Swann & Willie Mack
Allie versus Su Yung
If Allie is here, where is Kate? Obscure bad sitcom reference. Su Yung has really impressed me the few times I’ve watched her perform and she is good. Damn good. The only thing I know about Allie is that I can make bad puns about her name. Su gets the win.
Winner: Su Yung
Eli Drake versus ???
I keep hearing a name mentioned, but it’s just a rumor. After all, he’s a champion for New Japan and a rock & roll legend. He’s a bad mama-jama and all of you stupid idiots better watch your step or you know what? You know what? You just made the list! Nah, it won’t happen because even though he’s working for New Japan sometimes and has a big deal coming up with a boat that features a lot of Impact superstars and was “All In”, he wouldn’t pop up and be Impact Bound For Glory, would he? It would take a real “Lion Hearted” type guy to do all of that? So will we be saying, “Impact Is Jericho?” Could be. If it is the Ayatollah of Rock & Rolla, expect a brawl and no conclusive winner or loser. It probably won’t even make it to a match. They can save the actual match for Jericho’s version of the “Bruise Cruise”. If they actually do have a match, Jericho will win, if he’s the one of course. It’ll be short, sweet and make a, dare I say it, Impact!
Winner: The Mystery Man, Y2J.
And there you go. My thoughts and predictions for the upcoming Bound For Glory event this Sunday night live on pay-per-view. I might be right and I might be way off base, but we’ll find out on Sunday. So what do you think? Will you be watching? Let me know with your replies and e-mails. I want to know your thoughts on Impact Wrestling and the Bound For Glory event and Impact Superstars so talk to me, my Peeps.
And with that, I’m out of here. I have to go get ready for work. Friday night and that liquor won’t be selling itself. Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you later. Take care.
