Tossing Salt Presents:
Rollins vs AJ, Jericho, Renee & More
December 2, 2018
Are you ready for another wrestling Q&A? One already and one more to go, just because we freakin’ can. “Why?”, you ask. Because I have nothing else to do and this here, it’s what I do. I could work on a story that’s being formatted in my mind about Butt Naked Man or I could just do a “Days of Dougie” piece, but I have these questions from a man named Jay. So here we are and away we go. Let’s do this…
1.) Any shot that if Rollins wins the Rumble he would challenge AJ instead of Lesnar (and how good do you think that match would be?)
Rollins versus AJ would be a great change of pace and make for one helluva good match. It would shake things up big time and be a great way to transition Rollins to Smackdown just in time for the Fox Network show to really hit it’s stride. The only problem with this scenario is that AJ Styles ins’t the WWE Champion anymore. Daniel Bryan is and a Bryan versus Rollins match would be just as much fun to watch and see. I really don’t see Rollins as winning the Royal Rumble match, but if he is the one, challenging the WWE Champion from Smackdown Live, whoever it may be, would be a great way to throw a swerve to the WWE shows and shake things up. I like that idea.
2.) Do you see Jericho having one more run with WWE?
Yes, I do. Jericho is having fun right now with New Japan and cruise ships and the All In folks, but whenever he’s ready to do something with WWE and makes that phone call to Vince, he’ll be back in the mix almost immediately and if you don’t agree with that, guess what? You’re a stupid idiot and you know what else? You just made “the list!”. So there you go.
3.) Is there any way you don’t see McIntyre winning the title in 2019?
Unless he suffers a legit serious injury, gets hit by a bus or accidentally calls Stephanie McMahon “sir”, there is no way that 2018 will not be McIntyre’s year. He’s going to be “the man”. Believe that!
4.) Why hasn’t Demolition gotten into the WWE HOF?
The main reason, I think, are those concussion themed lawsuits that were, until recently, being filed against the WWE by that Kyros ambulance chasing lawyer dude. Both Bill Eadie (Crash) and Barry Darsow (Snash) were plantiffs in that lawsuit against WWE. Plus Eadie, who also wrestled as The Masked Superstar in Georgia and the Mid-Atlantic regions, left the then-WWF under bad terms and was replaced by Brian “Crush” Adams. So blame old grudges and more recent lawsuits as to why Demolition has not yet been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. I think it will happen eventually because Demolition was an important part of the WWE tag team history, but someone is going to have to reach out and extend the olive branch and bring these two groups together first.
5.) Favorite Thanksgiving “side” (aka not the turkey)?
For me personally, it’s the stuffing. There’s nothing I enjoy more than a good stuffing.
6.) Were you more of a fan of Trish or Lita?
Of the two, I think I was more of a Lita fan than Trish. But to be honest, I definitely preferred Ivory… and Jackie… and Victoria… and Luna… and Sherri Martel over either of the first two mentioned.
7.) How do you think Renee Young has done so far as a commentator on Raw?
I think that so far, so good. She’s began to find her voice and interject on Cole and Graves when necessary instead of waiting patiently for a spot. Her and Graves have started to develop a good back and forth banter as of late as well and I like that too. Renee has started to grow into her role and get comfortable and is getting better each week. She’s already surpassed Saxton, Otunga & Booker T, although that really wasn’t hard to do. She’s proving that she belongs and earned that spot. Kudos to her.
8.) Do you think Raw or SD is currently the better show (or should I say less boring)?
It goes back and forth, but for me, generally I find I prefer RAW. It’s way too long to be sure and some of the segments are hard to watch, but more of my favorites are on RAW right now with the B-Team, The Revival, Slater, Jinder, Drew, Alicia, etc. Both shows have good and bad moments and while Smackdown has tighter storylines and action, I don’t like Shane or New Day so that makes it a no-go for me unless I have fast forward set on my TV and can bypass their spots. So by default and dislike of Shane, RAW wins.
And there you go. My thanks again to Jay for the questions. Any thoughts, comments or questions of your own, let me know. Talk to me, my children. And now, I’m out of here. Until the next time, just always be too sweet and remember to support your local Indy wrestling. It’s the stars of tomorrow being showcased today. Have a great one and I’ll catch you on the flip side.
