Jesse Ventura, Elias, Brawl For All & More
December 2, 2018
Dedicated to the memory of Mr. Ronnie Stone. Rest In Peace good sir…
Are you ready for some good old fashioned Q&A about the world’s greatest sport? These questions come from the mind of my long time close personal friend and occasional bad-joke buddy, Vincent. And the answers, that’s just little ol’ me. Let’s do this.
Thoughts on Jesse Ventura announcing that he’s considering running for President in 2020?
When I first heard about Jesse throwing this out there, I let out a big and heavy sigh. But then I started thinking about it and The Body versus The Donald. Could you imagine those debates. And the Democrats think that Trump has an ego? For the campaign and antics back and forth, it would be an amazing time for American politics. I’m not a big fan of Ventura, but he doesn’t have much of an inner-censor and speaks his mind. He’s not politically correct in any way, shape or form and a Trump versus Ventura battle would never, ever be boring. But it won’t happen. Jesse is running off at the mouth and trying to get some attention, but he does this almost every election. Ventura is a smart man and he did a decent job when he was the Governor of Minnesota for one term, but he’s not what this country needs and couldn’t, I believe, handle the job of being the President. Ventura would be better to see run and is more qualified than many of the top Democrat possibilities (Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders), but he won’t decide to run. He’ll work as a talking head for a bit, get some paychecks and then vanish again after the election when Trump is re-elected.
What do you think it would take to get CM Punk back working for and wrestling in the WWE?
Three things mainly. Money, a promise of creative freedom and a light, Brock like schedule, all presented to Punk with Vince McMahon stepping in and handling all the negotiations personally. We all know that there is legit bad feelings between Punk and Triple H, so Hunter would need to stay out of it and step aside, letting Vince handle everything himself. Punk and Vince were said to get along fairly well and actually respected and liked each other, while feelings between Punk and the Stephanie / HHH power-couple were not nearly as cordial, so have Steph and HHH interact with Punk as little as possible. If Vince was to approach Punk with a good financial deal, a lighter schedule that consisted mainly of TV and PPV’s and most importantly, plans for a program or programs for the next year or two years or whatever the length of the possible contract is geared for, I think Punk would listen. Go in and tell Punk exactly what they hope do do with him, who he would be wrestling, etc, with the story laid out as detailed as possible, I think it would work. Punk mainly wanted respect and to wrestle in a legit Wrestlemania main event and that wouldn’t be hard to do. I think Vince could easily, if he was to put out the effort, could mend these fences and make things right with Punk. It would be good for WWE, good for Punk and great for the WWE fans. Or as the WWE management is fond of saying, it would be best for business. They should give it a shot.
Do you see Elias as a future WWE / Universal Champion?
At this point and time, I really don’t. I like Elias and think he’s a strong character and good in that ring. He’s over like Grover and I can see a big future for him for many years to come, but as the top guy on the roster and the face of the company? He’d have to drop the songs and guitar and would need a total revamp of his character to be able to fit into that role. Maybe at some point in the future, but not yet. He’s not ready. He can be the US or IC champ and a top mid-card guy as he is, but the main champ? Nah.
Will Charlotte Flair eventually surpass her father’s record of sixteen World Championships?
So far, Charlotte has only been wrestling what? Five or six years and she’s already a 7-time Women’s Champion? If she continues at this pace, I can see five or six more titles in her future and she definitely will make the double-digits as a Women’s World Champion, but will she ever hit the magic number of 16? I think WWE will protect Flair’s legacy and even though John Cena has tied Flair and Charlotte will come close, no one will ever, so long as the Nature Boy is alive, breathing and Wooooing, actually break that magic number. Wooooooo!
If WWE was to bring back the Brawl For All tournament, what eight currrent WWE superstars would you like to see participate?
The Brawl for All was a stupid idea where everyone legit fought and pretty much just shit all over what we all love about professional wrestling. I hope that WWE is never dumb enough to bring back that particular idea and if they do, then do it right as a “professional wrestling event”, which means look as real as possible, but have the men involved protect each other and the event planned out and scripted as it should be. Make it like UFC. If WWE was to get high and drunk and totally stupid and bring this event back, the men from the current roster I’d have participate would be Brock, Lashley, Rhyno, Big Show, Samoa Joe, Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal & Sheamus.
