Wrestling Q&A: AEW Signings, Priscilla Kelly, Hulk Hogan & More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Q&A
AEW Signings, Priscilla Kelly, Hulk Hogan & More
January 9, 2019

It’s “Hump Day”. I think it’s time for some Q&A, wrestling style. The questions are from Matt and Jesse. The answers, that’s all me. Let’s do this…

Thoughts on Chris Jericho and Neville signing with AEW?

For Jericho and the man they used to call Neville, I think it’s a great move to be on the front lines of the newest and hottest thing going right now. For Neville especially, since he really doesn’t have anywhere else to go. Oh yeah, he’s called Pac now. My bad! As for Jericho, I guess he knows that when he wants to go back to WWE, he can, but the roster is so huge and bloated right now, he’d be just another guy fighting for TV time and a push. But at the AEW, he’s a major big name player and instantly, due to his name and reputation, goes to the front of the line, plus he gets to give back, be part of something new and work with new names and new faces. Vince McMahon probably isn’t happy, but he’ll get over it. I think both Jericho and Pac made good moves.

Is Sasha Banks the right woman to challenge Ronda Rousey at the Royal Rumble?

Why not? She’s fresh, having been mostly part of the tag team scene with Bayley for the past year or so, she’s a top talent with a good fan base and is a former 4-time Champion. And best of all, she’s not Nia Jax or named Bella. I think Sasha versus Ronda should be a good match and could be a good program to keep Ronda busy as she gets ready for Becky and Charlotte at Mania.

Was Hulk Hogan the right person to pay homage to Mean Gene Okerlund Monday night on RAW?

Well, let me tell you something brother… nobody’s name is more linked to Mean Gene’s than Hogan, going back to the days of the AWA and then Gene and Hogan came into the WWF together and the rest was history. Ric Flair could have done it as well, but Hogan was the best choice and he did an excellent job paying his respects to his long time friend.

Lisa Marie Varon (Victoria) has announced that she’s retiring at the end of 2019. Thoughts?

This is a big loss for the world of wrestling and women’s wrestling especially. The former Victoria hasn’t really been making any news since her last run with Impact Wrestling, but it’s obvious that while she can still go, it’s also time to slow down and call it a day. I wish her the very best in her retirement and I also hope that the people in WWE take notice and maybe we get a Victoria guest shot at the Royal Rumble in a couple of weeks. Or have her come to the Performance Center and help groom the next generation. The in-ring career of Lisa Marie may be coming to an end, but there is still so much more for this talented woman to share and do. I just hope that the powers-that-be realize that and give her a call.

Is Road Warrior Animal right in his criticism of Becky Lynch and her calling herself “The Man”?

Road Warrior Animal is a bitter old goof who matters as much as the bird poop on my car’s windshield. Becky has found her niche and is catching the wrestling world on fire, hotter than ever. Animal has been critical of her and says she needs to get over herself, but what she’s doing is getting over. She’s doing what all wrestlers try to do and only a few succeed to this degree. It’s what the business is all about and Animal just needs to go back to the home and play shuffleboard and let Becky have her time. He had his run at the top as part of the Road Warriors and now it’s Becky’s turn. Just leave her alone.

Should WWE bring in Dixie Carter to second EC3 on the main roster?

Thoughts on Priscilla Kelly and the bloody tampom incident, “Tampongate”?

For those who don’t know, Priscilla Kelly had a match where she ended up pulling out a bloody, used tampon and ramming it into the mouth of her opponent. Or was it a pad? Doesn’t matter. It was disgusting and over the top and has really freaked out a lot of people. My thoughts? We live in a world where wrestlers toss other wrestlers around with their “super dick”. Mick Foley ramming a sock down people’s throats and was cheered for it. Rikishi had faces crammed deep up into his ass-crack and was cheered for it. So Kelly used a tampon or a pad or whatever. Yeah, it’s nasty, but it’s caught the attention of the world and has gone viral. People are talking and that’s really what it’s all about. So more power to Kelly and her new “move”. I don’t care for it or want to see it again, but she did it and it’s elevated her status and popularity. What more is there to say?

Should there be a “Ready to Rumble 2” starring David Arquette?

I barely remember the first one, but apart from the WCW wrestlers taking part, it was kind of dumb and sucked. If they can get Arquette to come back and stack it with WWE stars, as a WWE Films event, and maybe give Miz, Axel, Bo and Becky all roles, then maybe it could work, but otherwise, no, I think that one movie is more than enough.

And there you go. I have to go now and get ready for work. Thanks for reading. Any thoughts, comments or questions, feel free and talk to me. Until the next time, take care. Have a great one.
