Tossing Salt Presents:
(Another) Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Juvi, Jack Swagger, Reverse Battle Royal & More
January 27, 2019
I was all set to call it a day, but happened to look into my e-mail and here was a set of questions about the world’s greatest sport, professional wrestling, courtesy of my friend Jesse. “No problem”, I thought. I’ll do these tomorrow morning, but then I realized that a couple of them are time sensitive about the Royal Rumble match tonight. So here we go. Even though I just posted a wrestling Q&A, I’ll quickly do this one too and get it up because I’m here for you and that’s what I do. So let’s tackle these and get ‘er done. Let’s do this…
Do you think that Juventud Guerrera ever gets the credit he deserves?
As a performer, not really, but Juvi only has himself to blame. He’s a talented performer and charismatic guy, not to mention sexy as hell. Dougie would love him some Juice. Just saying. But he’s also disrespectful, careless in the ring at times and has burned as many bridges as he’s crossed. Juvi puts butts in the seats, but any promoter signing “the Juice” also gets a lot of headaches, a lot of baggage and as often as not, it turns out to be more trouble than it’s worth. Juvi is a great talent, but he’s also a great headache and that’s what prevents him from getting his just due.
At what point did you become anti-Cena?
I’m not anti-Cena. I’m not a big fan, but I respect what he can do in the ring. I think when most people became opposed to the guy was when it became so obvious that Cena was Vince’s favorite and he went from being one of the boys to “Super Cena”. He’s been the top guy for a long long time now and even the best of things day after day, night after night, get tiresome and stale after a while.
R-Truth accompanied Jack Swagger to the cage for his MMA victory last night. Does this mean we see Swagger return the favor and show up tonight at the Royal Rumble match?
I doubt it even though they were in Los Angeles last night for the Bellator win by Swagger and it’s just a short trip to Phoenix where the Rumble is being held tonight. I don’t think it will happen, but if it does, I’ll be one of the guys cheering the hardest. WE THE PEOPLE!
Do you think that Christian will go into the WWE Hall of Fame?
This is a no-brainer. It’s not “if”, but just “when”.
How about making an appearance in the Royal Rumble match?
Again, I would mark out big time if “Captain Charisma” was to don the tights one more time and show up to walk that aisle, but I seriously doubt that it will be happening.
Thoughts on all the rumors that Ronda Rousey will be leaving WWE when her contract expires to start a family?
If she does do that, so be it, but I don’t really think we have to worry about that just yet. Ronda seems to be enjoying her run with the WWE and I think when push comes to shove, she’ll look at all the options and stick around for a little while longer.
Thoughts on the signings of Abyss and Chris Sabin, from Impact Wrestling to the WWE?
Sounds good to me. Both Abyss and Sabin were working for Impact as Agents and of course, Abyss is a good wrestler and character as well. If WWE thinks that they can benefit the company and obviously make more money doing so, good for them. Just a thought though. Wouldn’t it be cool to see Abyss make an appearance in the Royal Rumble tonight as a surprise? Just saying.
What is a reverse-Battle Royal? Should WWE use this gimmick match?
This is a Battle Royal where everyone starts off outside the ring and they have a certain amount of time to fight their way into the ring. And then, the people who didn’t make it into the ring are sent to the back while the folks in the ring proceed to have a regular style Battle Royal. Should WWE use this match? In a word, “NO!”.
And there you go. My thanks for reading and thank you again Jesse. Have a great one and I’ll catch you later. Don’t forget the Royal Rumble tonight on the WWE Network. Have a great one.
