Tossing Salt Presents:
The Revival, Batista, Nia vs Ambrose & More
February 15, 2019
Welcome to the site. TGIF! I have questions sent to me by Matt and Jesse. And I have answers too because that’s what I do. Time is short and so is the attention span of a gold fish. Let’s do this…
Thoughts on The Revival winning the RAW Tag Team Championship this past Monday on RAW.
I was very happy to see The Revival get their just due and finally win the tag titles this past Monday. WWE and especially RAW have a strong tag team division with teams like Slater & Rhyno, Ryder & Hawkins, Roode & Gable, Heavy Machinery, The B-Team, The Ascension, AOP & Lucha House Party and while the tag team titles haven’t really been hot-shotted too badly as of late, they really haven’t been given much of a push either but with the Revival as the champs, there’s a good chance of that changing. They’re heels (sort of), but can work any team, heel or face, and it makes sense. For fans of tag team wrestling, the Revival is just that, a throwback to days when tag teams matter, and a chance to really build the tag division into something strong and with meaning. It’s a great move by WWE and congratulations to The Revival. They definitely deserve the honors.
What do you think will happen when WWE celebrates Ric Flair’s 70th birthday on RAW?
The usual stuff. Lots of “woooing” and probably an in-ring celebration full of old-school wrestlers and legends. Since Brock Lesnar is scheduled to be there, I guess he’ll come out and make some threats against Ric only so Ric can be “saved” by Seth Rollins. Or they might go the other way and have Becky, the “Man” come out and go after Ric in order to provoke Charlotte into a match so she can get her spot back at Wrestlemania. Ric will be threatened by someone though and that’s almost a definite thing. And we’ll see a Horseman reunion of sorts too.
If HHH isn’t available, who do you think would make a good opponent for Batista at Wrestlemania?
If HHH isn’t medically cleared, then the most logical person to face Batista would be Randy Orton. As former partners in Evolution, it makes the most sense and while HHH would be the best person to fight “Drax”, Orton would be a suitable replacement.
Thoughts on the passing of former WWWF Champion Pedro Morales?
Time only fears the pyramids and the legends of professional wrestling. I remember Morales from a short run here in the Carolina’s, but know him mainly from the Apter mags and YouTube. A tough guy and wrestling legend who cemented his place in history when he stepped up and won the WWWF Championship from Ivan Koloff in the early 70’s. He set the bar for good guy wrestlers in the WWWF back in the day and is an iconic and legendary performer from that era. RIP Pedro.
Now that R-Truth is a champion, should he bring back “Little Jimmy”?
Maybe as a dance partner for he and Carmella during the “dance breaks” and even in a promo reference every so often would be cool. I’d pop. But on a full time basis, nope. Little Jimmy was better when Truth was a heel and so long as Truth is the lovable crazy-ass good Lil’ Jimmy, then he should stick with what he’s doing and forget about the invisible side-kick.
Word is that the plans for a Nia Jax versus Dean Ambrose match has been scrapped by WWE. Thoughts?
Too bad because I would have liked to see it happen. I remember Dean Malenko having some really fun matches with Molly Holly & Ivory that were strong and entertaining and no one raised an eyebrow or cared. Now everyone gets all in a panic and it’s not politically correct and who gives a damn. Nia is bigger than Ambrose and both are talented performers. And yes, I kept a straight face saying that. While men versus women shouldn’t happen every week and should be rare events, when it makes sense, let it happen. Ambrose versus Nia should happen and I hope that WWE changes their mind and decides to go for it. After all, what else are Nia and Ambrose doing at the moment? Men and women are equal and in WWE, people settle their differences in the ring so let Ambrose and Nia settle their problems in the ring. That’s the way it’s done and should be.
Since Lars Sullivan probably won’t be back in time for his rumored planned match against John Cena at Wrestlemania, what about Aleister Black instead?
Black would be good to see and would give Cena a great match, but if a NXT star is to be brought up to fight “Big Match John” at the biggest show of the year, I would probably go with the Velveteen Dream. Now that would be a match for the ages that I’d like to see.
And that’s all for now. My thanks for reading. Questions and comments welcome. Until the next time, take care.
