Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Kofi, Asuka, The Bellas, Gronk & More
April 3, 2019
Time for another edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. The questions are from my long time close and personal friends, Matt and Jesse. And the answers, that’s just me. Let’s do this…
If Kofi wins the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania, should Xavier Woods and Big E challenge him for the title?
Absolutely. The goal of every single wrestler in WWE should be to challenge and compete for the WWE or Universal Championship and that applies to Big E and Xavier Woods too. Kofi wouldn’t even have the chance to challenge for the title at Wrestlemania according to the story-line if Woods and Big E hadn’t stepped up for him and won that tag team gauntlet match. Thus, he owes them and a shot at the WWE title, should he become champion, is the way to repay that debt that makes the most sense.
Is Asuka getting the shaft by WWE?
From Smackdown Women’s Champion two weeks before Wrestlemania to now just being part of the Kickoff show and the Women’s Battle Royal, one of many. Oh yeah, she’s getting major hosed big time.
At Wrestlemania, WWE tries to give everyone on the roster a spot on the show. Good idea or not?
While I appreciate the effort by WWE and I understand that they do this to keep the morale of the rosters up, it’s not a great idea. We currently have 16 matches being advertised for Wrestlemania and that’s just way too damn many. Too much at one time and it’s all going to be one big confusing mess in the memories of fans. Better to have 8 to 10 matches, tops, that actually mean something and have time to be classic standout moments rather than just burn out the crowd. Less is more and especially with a show like Wrestlemania, it should be about the best of the best, not everyone gets a ride.
The Bellas have said that they’d consider coming out of retirement for a change at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Thoughts?
They announce that they’re both retired and are starting a podcast. And then, on the first edition of their podcast. they talk about the new Women’s Tag Team Championships and how they would like to have a run with those belts and would consider challenging for the titles. And my thoughts? They’re women. They’re allowed to change their minds and if they want to give the Women’s Tag Champs a run for their money, so be it. Go for it ladies.
Do you think Gronk will make an appearance at Wrestlemania 35?
I’ll be surprised if he’s not there in New York somewhere chillin’ with his broski, Mojo Rawley. And an appearance by the former Patriot to screw with a few people and instantly propel the status of a Rawley / Gronk tag team. Sounds good to me.
Thoughts on this year’s WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2019?
It’s a solid class with DX as the headliners and The Hart Foundation, Harlem Heat, Torrie Wilson, Brutus Beefcake and the Honky Tonk Man. With the exception of Torrie Wilson, the rest of the group is all deserving and legit icons from the past of WWE and WCW. I would have liked to see Vader, Ivan Koloff and the Midnight Express and Jim Cornette get their just dues, but I guess we’ll have to wait another year for those gentlemen. Announced earlier today by the way, was the “Legacy Inductees” and the names mentioned are Wahoo McDaniel, “Playboy” Buddy Rose, Luna Vachon and Jim Barnett. Well, it’s actually spoilers and not official as of yet with the list of Legacy Inductees and more names are expected to be part of the list, but if the first four names leaked are any indication, I don’t think I’ll have any problems with it. Wahoo and Buddy Rose are long overdue and Jim Barnett’s legacy in pro wrestling, as any fan of Jim Ross’ podcast or Jim Cornette’s podcast can tell you, is second to none.
What match at Wrestlemania are you most interested in seeing?
The matches I’m most interested in are the main event of Becky versus Ronda versus Charlotte and the Raw Tag Team Championship match with The Revival defending against Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. Will Hawkin’s “streak” finally end and will the one-time Major Brothers have gold around their waist? That’s what I want to know and see.
Tyler Breeze claims that he has not be well utilized by the WWE. Agree or disagree?
Go watch what this man was doing in NXT. Then go see how he’s been booked for the past four years on the main roster? It speaks for itself and Breeze has been wasted again and again.
Thoughts on Jim Ross signing with AEW?
It’s a good move for Ross and a good move by AEW. While I personally think that they should have a younger, fresh new face as the main announcer for their television, Ross is still a great asset with experience and a mind for the business that few others can even come close to matching. Let Ross work as a secondary announcer, but also contribute behind the scenes and put that experience to work for the company. This is a win-win for all parties involved.
Thoughts on RVD signing with Impact Wrestling?
It’s easy money for RVD as Impact is desperate for any kind of star power they can get and RVD’s options are limited as he can’t pass the medical tests to work for WWE. Congrats to RVD for making himself relevant again, even if it is Impact Wrestling.
And there you go. My thanks for reading and to Matt and Jesse for those great questions. Any comments, thoughts or questions, drop me a line and we’ll talk. Until the next time, take care of yourself and don’t forget to support your local Indy wrestling company. Have a great one.
