Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
WWE Network, SummerSlam & More
June 5, 2019
My apologies for not posting anything for the past few days. Life can be a bitch sometimes and right now, she is the bitchiest of bitchy bitches bitching about bitching. Yeah, that pretty much describes it. I’ll do a rant about it someday, but for now, let’s talk wrestling. Thanks to the always awesome Jay from CT for this latest batch of questions. And now, let’s do this…
1.) What do you watch on WWE network other than ppvs?
I’m a big fan of the lolder stuff so the “Classic Gems”, Mid-Atlantic Wrestling from the late 80’s and pre-WCW and the old Nitros, RAW’s and Thunders are my favorite selections. And I’m ready for some Sunday Night Heat and the old WCW Main Events. Those were some under-rated, yet often awesome shows.
2.) Do you think the XFL has a “chance in hell” if succeeding?
It will be a rough road, but I think that Vince learned from the mistakes of his first attempt and has as good a chance as anyone of making it work. I hope it does anyways.
3.) When’s the last time you went to a WWE show?
I’ve never actually been to a WWE show. I’ve been to hundreds of Indy events and a few Nitro’s back in the day and dozens of classic Jim Crockett events back when I was younger, but an actual WWE live event is something I’ve yet to experience.
4.) Do you think Summerslam still feels like the 2nd biggest ppv of the year or has it fallen in recent years behind the Rumble?
I would argue that the Saudi event has taken the spot of # 2 for WWE given the special matches and effort that they put into each show (coming to the Network this Friday), but SummerSlam is still in WWE’s eyes and in the eyes of most fans, the second biggest week of wrestling for the WWE each year.
5.) Do you think it would be more interesting at Survivor Series to mix men/women in the elimination tag or keep them separate still?
WWE still frowns on mixed matches and interaction between the men and women for the most part except in special situations as the “Mixed Match Challenge”. As for as one of their premiere events, such as Survivor Series, it’s probably better to keep them separate for now.
6.) Favorite food to BBQ?
I’m a simple man with simple tastes. Hamburgers and hot dogs are fine with me.
7.) When will we find out an official start date for AEW?
All that’s been said so far is that it will be on TNT starting in the fall, probably October. We’ll probably get an official date announced as we get closer to the event. However, between now and then, AEW has announced that there will be three more big AEW PPV events so we’ll have that to tide us over and satisfy our cravings for not-the-WWE until TV is ready to be up and running.
8.) What’s your current favorite theme song in WWE?
Most of the current WWE themes are kind of bland and generic and don’t mean much of anything to me, but I do like Ronda Rousey’s coming out to the Joan Jett song, Bray Wyatt’s pre-Firefly Funhouse music and Heath Slater’s “One Man Band” music.
9.) Did Nakamura or Asuka get treated worse on the main roster since they came up?
They have both been treated like afterthoughts and buried since coming to the main roster in comparison to how their runs in NXT went down, but I think I’ll give the slight edge to Asuka. Losing to Charlotte was okay, but then to Carmella? And since then, she’s just a face on the roster and stuck in a dead-end tag team. Shinsuke could be relevant again with just one good match against a top guy, but Asuka doesn’t seem to have that same opportunity.
10.) AJ said this is his last wrestling contract. Do you know how many years the one he just signed was for?
I’m not sure, but I’ve heard it said by several sources that it’s a three year deal.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, questions or any other thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, take care and have a great one. I’ll see you at the matches.
