Wrestling Fact or Fiction: TLC, PCO, nWo and More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction
TLC, PCO, nWo and More…
December 20, 2019

Are you ready for some Fact or Fiction, the wrestling edition? The statements come from the pages of 411mania.com and Jake Chambers. And the opinions that follow, that’s all me baby. Let’s do this…

Statement #1: The TLC 2019 PPV was an exciting and action-packed event.

FACT: The build to TLC was shoddy and sad, but the show itself definitely delivered. The matches were tight, the wrestlers worked hard and busted their asses as always and several of the matches, including the New Day versus The Revival and the main event of Becky and Charlotte versus The Kabuki Warriors, not only delivered, but surpassed expectations. It was a damn good show and with the exception of the Rusev / Lashley match, I enjoyed it from bell to bell.

Statement #2: In a tag team ladder / TLC match, both members of the team should have to grab one title each in order to win.

FICTION: It only takes one person on a team to be pinned to lose a match or title and it should only require one person to grab the belts to cause a title change in a ladder match. It’s simple, to the point and the way things are done now isn’t broken so don’t try to change or fix it. Just leave things as they are.

Statement #3: You were surprised that PCO won the ROH Championship at Final Battle.

FICTION: The fans love him, he’s over like Rover and he’s loyal to ROH and sticking around while others seem to be jumping ship almost daily. PCO is a good man to keep things stable at the top while ROH figures out the future and works towards rebuilding. It was a good call.

Fact or Fiction – Quick Hits
– one sentence is all you need for this FoF lightning round!

1. Dumpster Fire of the Wrestling Week: Seth Rollins turns heel.

FICTION: Seth needed to change things up and makes a great heel, far better than being a face in my opinion, so rather than being the “dumpster fire”, I’d say having Seth go back to the dark side was one of the better parts of WWE this past week.

2. You have watched some of an episode of WWE’s D-show Main Event in 2019.

FACT:  I read the spoilers and if I see that Heath Slater, Zack Ryder or the B-Team is wrestling, I’ll try and make it a point to watch.

3. They Live! is the greatest B Movie of all time.

FICTION: It’s a good movie and Piper is awesome in it, but so far as no-budget, but still awesome flicks goes, it’s not even in my personal Top 10.

Statement #4: With Smackdown on network TV and NXT on cable, RAW is no longer WWE’s “A show”.

FICTION: RAW is Vince’s first-born baby and so long as he’s the boss of WWE and breathing, RAW always be in his mind at least, the A-show.

Statement #5: The nWo would never be inducted into a real WWF/E Hall of Fame.

FACT: But here’s the catch to that statement. The WWE Hall of Fame is NOT a real Hall of Fame. It’s who Vince McMahon thinks deserves a pat on the back and can draw fans and make him and his company money. He realizes that the nWo was a huge part of the Monday Night Wars and WCW and he now owns all that was WCW and with that in mind, plus personal relationships with Hogan and Nash, he decides who gets in and the nWo won his support for an induction. They did change the industry and put butts in the seats for WCW. That’s good enough for Vince and he makes the call. Whatever we think about it doesn’t matter in the slightest.

Statement #6: You are excited by the return of John Morrison to the WWE.

FACT: Morrison is a great talent, exciting to watch and a definite plus to any company where he performs and having him in WWE can only step things up and improve the action just that much more. Think of the matches we could see. Morrison versus AJ Styles. Morrison versus Kevin Owens. Morrison versus Seth Rollins. Morrison versus Ricochet. Morrison versus Baron Corbin. Okay, forget that last one, but you get my point. Having Morrison back on the roster and in WWE is good, very good and I’m very excited and happy to see him return.

And there you go. My thanks to 411mania.com and Jake Chambers for the statements that make this column possible. Any comments, thoughts or questions, drop me a line either here at the site or at Doug28352@yahoo.com. Thanks for reading and with that, I’m out of here. Have a great one, stay safe and I’ll see you at the matches.
