Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Tyrus, The Oddities, R Truth & More
February 24, 2020
Happy Monday if there is such a thing. Welcome to a new edition of the always infamous Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I have questions from Matt, Dave S. and the best thing since sliced bread, my good friend, Cheese. Let’s do this…
What did you think of Mojo winning the 24/7 Championship?
As much as I love R Truth, it was good to see one of the more serious-minded wrestlers get a run with the title and have a chance to add to the credibility of the championship. Of course, Mojo isn’t the champion anymore and now Riddick Moss is the man with possession of the prestigious honor. I think Mojo was a good choice to hold the title and I like how Riddick is getting a chance to make his name with the title now. Truth will get it back eventually, probably at Wrestlemania, but the man I would enjoy seeing have a long run with the title is Heath Slater. That’s just a thought that I’m throwing out there, just in case anyone from WWE reads this. Give Slater the belt. After all, he’s got kids!
Why did Roman reigns fail to become a megastar in the WWE despite Vince McMahon pushing him to the moon?
I think part of it is that Reigns is not good at promos. He’s fine if scripted, but it doesn’t come across as natural and as John Cena noted, he doesn’t have a knack for improv and winging it. And the long break for his medical issues has to be figured in as well. And finally, the push was too hard and the fans didn’t like that. They weren’t being given the option to like or not like Reigns on his merit and skills, but instead were having him shoved down their throats by WWE Management. Reigns is a big star and in a good spot on the roster, but is he a megastar like Cena or The Rock? Nope and I don’t think he ever will be.
Do you think that R-Truth will have a match at Wrestlemania and if so, against who?
Most likely if Truth does wrestle at Mania, it will be as part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. If he has any other activities going on, I would think it would be taking part in multiple title switches for the 24/7 Championship. I truly do expect to see Truth leave Mania as the 24/7 Champion.
Do you think that Tyrus will ever return to WWE and wrestling?
From what I understand, both Tyrus and Cameron (remember her?) are scheduled to be a part of Wrestlemania weekend and will be doing something with Naomi. If all goes well, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of Tyrus with the occasional single shot on WWE doing commentary or making an appearance. But as far as a full-time return goes, he’s got a great gig happening with Fox News and Fox Nation and that is the priority in his life right now and not wrestling, as it should be.
Would you like to see Tyson Fury compete in a match at Wrestlemania?
Fresh off his big victory over Deontay Wilder, now would be a great time for Fury to come back and maybe finish up what was started last year against Braun Strowman. I’m not big on Fury (or Strowman for that matter), but it’s a money situation waiting to happen and WWE should capitalize if they can.
Would you like to see one more Ronda Rousey run in WWE?
I would. I feel as if Ronda just barely tapped the surface of what she’s capable of with her run last year and I would like to see more of the “Rowdy One”. She’s good in the ring, a great talker who adds credibility to anything she’s involved in and has great respect for the business. Having her as part of WWE is a very positive situation and I’d like to see her back in action.
Do you think that Jon Moxley should be the man who defeats Chris Jericho for the AEW Championship?
Nope, but I’ve never been a big fan of Moxley be it in WWE as Dean Ambrose or now in AEW under the Moxley name. He’s a spot monkey in my opinion and it’s too predictable to have him be the one to take out Le’ Champion. I think the next champion should be a swerve from out of nowhere. How about Luchasaurus or maybe an ambush and MJF gets put into the title picture with some heel versus heel action. I’m not sold on Moxley as the champion at all.
Do you think that Goldberg will defeat The Fiend for the Universal Championship at Super Showdown?
If Goldberg wins, we riot! No, no, a million times no!
Remember The Oddities? If you were going to make a 2020 version of this unique faction, who would you include as part of the group?
A group like the Oddities could never get over in today’s politically correct world. It’s too “cruel” and “insensitive” and just plain mean. But I wouldn’t mind seeing it just to watch Jim Cornette’s head explode and to hear his rant on the topic. WWE would never allow it to happen, but I could see AEW being crazy enough to do this gimmick. As for who should or would be a part of the faction, how about bringing in Missy Hyatt as the voice of the group, the Luna if you will. She’s been regularly attending AEW shows anyways and it would be a great way to bring her back into the picture. As for the actual wrestlers, I’d go with Sonny Kiss, Nyla Rose, Marko Stunt, Dustin Thomas (the legless guy at the Casino Battle Royal) and Jimmy Havoc as the top guy ring leader of the group. It would be controversial, different and get people talking. I’d love to see this happen.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts or questions, feel free and drop me a line here at the site or to my e-mail of Doug28352@yahoo.com. Until the next time, take care and have a great week. I’ll see you at the matches.
