WWE Elimination Chamber: Thoughts & Predictions…

Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE Elimination Chamber
Thoughts & Predictions
March 7, 2020

Coming up on Sunday night, live from Philadelphia on the WWE Network, is WWE Elimination Chamber. And that means it’s time to break out the Sister Cleo costume, the Tarot cards, and even the crystal ball. Are you ready for some predictions? Let’s do this…

Elimination Chamber Match: Natalya vs. Liv Morgan vs. Shayna Baszler vs. Asuka vs. Ruby Riott vs. Sarah Logan to determine the challenger for Becky Lynch’s Raw Women’s Champion at Wrestlemania 36

Why are the former Riott Squad members here? They’re not going to win or even be a factor in this match. Natalya is worthy of challenging “The Man” at Wrestlemania, but does anyone want to see this match? Asuka just recently did a run with Becky and came up short and while I would be happy to watch Asuka & Becky fight every night, Mania calls for something special and different. Baszler took a bite out of Becky a few weeks ago and Becky wants payback. That’s the bottom line here and what we’ll be seeing in Tampa. Baszler is here to win it all and headline Mania. But here’s something to think about. Ronda Rousey was at WWE Headquarters earlier this week. Does the Rowdy One appear and we get a three-way dance at Mania? I’m down, but that’s just a theory. For here and now, it’s Baszler getting the victory.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

Elimination Chamber Match: WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison vs. The New Day vs. The Usos vs. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode vs. Heavy Machinery vs. Lucha House Party for the 3/8 Chamber PPV.

Let’s take out the dead weight first. Lucha House Party is not going to win. Dolph & Roode are indeed glorious, but they’re not going to win. Everyone loves Otis and the big goof got his heart broken a few weeks ago, but Heavy Machinery is not going to win. And coming off their recent legal issues, The Usos are not going to win. So that leaves the Champions, Miz & Morrison and the much-beloved New Day. I’m ready to see Kofi & Big E do a heel turn. I’m tired of the pancakes and positivity. I take back what I said a few minutes ago. Final teams are Usos and Miz / Morrison. And the champions retain.

Winners and STILL Smackdown Tag Team Champions: John Morrison & The Miz

WWE Intercontinental Champion Braun Strowman vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro & Sami Zayn in a Handicap Match.

Three on one should mean a title switch here. And to be honest, I’d love to see it happen. Shinsuke, Cesaro, and Sami sharing the Intercontinental Championship under some form of the Freebird rule, taking turns defending it. The possibilities are endless and watching as these men work together could make for some great stories. But it’s WWE and it’s Braun Strowman and what should happen doesn’t necessarily mean that it will. Strowman pins Sami and retains the title.

Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Braun Strowman

WWE Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits vs. Murphy & Seth Rollins.

I think a stipulation has been added that if the Profits don’t retain their titles here and lose the belts, they don’t get any rematches or future shots against Seth & Murphy. So they have to win and retain or else it’s over for Ford & Dawkins in tag team title competition. I think that the guys with ‘the smoke’ will find a way to get past the odds and take home that big win. Maybe an ambush by the AOP after the match and we can get a three-way for the title between the Street Profits, AOP, and Seth & Murphy at Mania. Works for me.

Winners and STILL RAW Tag Team Champions: The Street Profits

WWE U.S. Champion Andrade (with Zelina Vega) vs. Humberto Carrillo.

I’m torn here. Andrade is doing great as the United States Champion, but if Humberto doesn’t do something here, this is over and through and he’s pretty much dead in the water. I don’t want to see a title switch here, but I think one may be necessary. How about a miscue by Angel Garza and he ends up accidentally costing Andrade the match and title. That gives us Zelina trying to keep the peace on her team, the tension between Andrade and Garza, a new champion and Humberto’s career stays alive. Everyone wins and the story continues. Works for me.

Winner and the NEW United States Champion: Humberto Carrillo

No DQ – AJ Styles vs. Aleister Black.

Black should win here, but we have AJ going after The Undertaker at Mania and having AJ lose cleanly wouldn’t look good. They’re in Philly and the fans wouldn’t be happy with the ‘AJ gets distracted by the Undertaker’s music’ ending so that’s out. It’s no disqualification so we know that Gallows & Anderson will be getting involved quite often and Black will have to face the numbers game. Black will look strong here and give all three members of The OC a great fight, but in the end, three on one means AJ will take the victory lap for this match.

Winner: AJ Styles

Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak

This could possibly be the match of the night and if they’re given any time to work, they may steal the show. Both of these men can be so good in that ring. I expect that Bryan will dominate most of the match and I foresee maybe a few distractions from Heath Slater & Drake Maverick, two men that Gulak has been aligned with lately. Hell, I just want to see Heath and Drake get some screen time. I’ve heard theories that Gulak may be morphing into a managerial type role in the future and this could be a Paul Jones versus Jimmy Valiant type of warfare, except for the men involved are exceptional in-ring performers. Have Gulak send man after man against Bryan to avenge the loss that he’ll be suffering here at the Elimination Chamber event. Regardless of that and whatever the future holds, the results here are clear. Bryan wins.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Just Added For Kick-Off Show

The Viking Raiders versus Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins

I’d love to see the two toy-loving former Major Brothers / Edgeheads win, but it won’t happen here. No love for the Woo.  Raiders win.

Winners:  The Viking Raiders

And there you go. Hopefully, later this evening, the Infamous K-Mak and I will be getting together and doing a video version of this column, but with more discussion and Kenneth’s predictions as well. Look for it. And for now, thank you for reading. Questions, comments and any other thoughts, just drop me a line and let’s chat. Follow me on Twitter at @Doug28352.
