Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Jim Ross, Roman Reigns, Zack Ryder & More
April 24, 2020
It’s been a few days since the last edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&Aand the questions have piled up. These all come from Twitter and Facebook. The answers are all me. Let’s play catch-up and let’s do this…
What did you think about JR’s tweet saying that everyone that just released from WWE was released for a reason?
I haven’t seen the tweet, but I can speculate. He’s right. Everyone was released for a reason, but the question is, what was the reason for each release? WWE claims that it was necessary to do talent cuts to get ahead of the curve and projected losses due to the COVID-19 virus and pandemic. I expect for some, that’s a legit reason. Others were collecting a paycheck and WWE didn’t have anything for them to do so they got the boot. Some may have been costing too much to justify so they got canned as well. So there are reasons and each release probably has a different reason and can be justified by WWE in some degree or manner.
Of the recently released WWE talent, who do you think will be the first to return in the future? Who is least likely to ever return?
It looks as if Sarah Logan may already be back in the fold so I guess that would be our answer. As for who won’t be back, if Gallows & Anderson ever return, I’ll be very surprised.
Why do Lars Sullivan and Alicia Fox still have jobs with WWE?
Because they have issues with medical problems and/or other issues and cutting them loose right now would be bad public relations. If and when Sullivan and Fox get future-endeavors, it will be done quietly and not in the middle of a pandemic.
Could a character like the Missing Link, Kamala, Abdullah, etc, work in professional wrestling today?
Nope. The curtain of kayfabe has been pulled back too far and in a national promotion, a character such as one of those mentioned would never work or be allowed.
Best incarnation of The Horsemen?
The original of Ole, Arn, Tully, and Flair or the one where Windham was brought in to take Ole’s spot. Those are the best ones and then, for future Horsemen, I’ll go with Ric, Arn, Pillman & Benoit as my favorite.
How would you book Zack Ryder to come to AEW?
Come in as a goof and friend of Cody’s, be his mystery partner in his battles against Spears or Brodie Lee’s group and then have Zack turn on and destroy Cody, turning heel and being a nasty bastard.
What topic or wrestler would you like to see the Dark Side of the Ring series tackle next?
Verne Gagne and the history of the AWA from the start until Verne’s death, The Gino Hernandez story, The Billy Jack Haynes story from early career to life as wrestling’s resident crazy ass-clown and maybe the tragedy that was Reid Flair.
Will Roman Reigns ever return to WWE full time as a top guy?
When the smoke has cleared from the COVID-19 craziness and things get back to normal, so will Roman return to the WWE fold and the top of the WWE roster.
If the WWF would’ve had the World Television Title in the ’80s & ’90s, who do you think would’ve made a great Champion?
For the ’80s and early ’90s, some great names that would have been excellent in the TV Champion role would be Ted DiBiase or Jake Roberts.
Worst PPV you’ve ever seen?
AWE Night of Legends. It happened back on October 15, 2011, and it was a train wreck of a show. Here is the recap I did for the show. It was definitely an experience.
And there you go. I’ve got a few more questions, but I’m going to end this here. I have to be up early in the AM for a very long day. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions, feel free to drop me a line. Until the next time, stay safe and take care. See you on the next go-around.
