Welcome, greetings, salutations, and how the hell are you? It’s time once again to do that Wrestling Q&A thing, the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A, exclusive to this site, DougMaynard.com. The questions are from Jackson and The Cheese. I’m providing the answers. And the capital of Uganda is Kampala. The more you know! Let’s do this…
In your opinion, who has the most devastating clothesline in wrestling history? I nominate three. JBL, Stan Hansen, and Nikita Koloff.
I’ll agree with JBL and Hansen. Go watch JBL clothesline poor Heath Slater at RAW 1000 and you’ll be a believer in the “Wrestling God!”. As for Stan, he’ll admit that he couldn’t see very well in the ring and just barreled ahead and ran over people. As for my favorite, I’ve always loved The Masked Superstar’s clothesline. It was a piece of beauty that was then followed by the Cobra, later called the Cobra Clutch. I don’t know about being devastating, but it definitely got the job done.
If James J. Dillon challenged you to build a four-man faction to face The Horsemen (Flair, Arn, Tully & Windham) in a War Games Match, who would you pick?
This would be in 1988 as that’s when this particular line-up of The Horsemen was ruling the NWA and holding all the gold. So going back to 1988, my faction would be the team of the Midnight Express (Eaton & Lane) w/ Jim Cornette, Big Bubba Rogers & Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin w/ Precious. And yeah, the Horsemen would probably win, but to have the Midnights, Bubba, and Garvin as my team, with Jim Cornette and Precious both on the outside of the ring, that would be awesome.
If you could bring back any wrestlers or group from the past to face AEW’s Inner Circle in a War Games match, who would you pick?
My group from the past would be Paul E. Dangerously and his Dangerous Alliance. Just imagine it, in that classic double-steel cage event, Steve Austin, Rick Rude, Bobby Eaton, Larry Zbyszko and Arn Anderson, with Paul Heyman and Madusa on the outside versus Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevera, Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz. And on this one, I think my boys in the Alliance would take home the victory.
Are you interested in seeing a feud with Mickie James versus Natalya?
Not really, but it’s more because of how lame the Natalya and Lana partnership is than anything else. I’m glad to see Mickie back in WWE and I’m sure that she and Nattie will have some damn good matches. I just don’t like the Lana-factor being involved.
Should AEW hire David Benoit?
If any company could work with Benoit and help him get past the stigma of his last name, AEW would be the place. I would love to see a Brian Pillman Jr. & David Benoit tag team, especially with Arn Anderson as their mentor. But before any of this happens, he needs to get back to training and be worthy of the opportunity and be able to prove he belongs in that ring. Once that happens, I wouldn’t mind seeing them give him a chance.
Harley Race, Bob Backlund & Nick Bockwinkle versus The Shield. Who wins?
I like Harley, Nick, and Backlund. I don’t like Ambrose, Roman, and Seth. So the three World Champions of the NWA, AWA, and WWF win, as they should.
Would you be interested in seeing Vince McMahon get involved in politics and run for political office?
If Vince was maybe fifteen or twenty years younger, I could see it happening, but I don’t think Vince could handle having to be politically correct and playing by the rules so much. Linda is a good fit for politics. Vince, not so much. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Stephanie get into politics at some point as well.
Who wins this elimination match?
Team WWE: Edge, Christian, & The Hardy Boys vs
Team WCW: Rock n Roll Express and The Midnight Express?
This match would be AWESOME! As much as I love the Midnights and respect the Rock & Roll Express, I have to go with Jeff, Matt, Christian, and Edge on this one. I think the last people standing would be Bobby Eaton, Matt Hardy, and Edge and Edge would end up spearing Bobby to get the final pin.
