Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Kevin Greene, Retribution, Sonny Kiss & More
September 28, 2020
Last night was the WWE Clash of Champions: Gold Rush. I want to do a review of that show, but I don’t have the time this morning. Damn, working a job sucks sometimes. But go watch the Roman Reigns match and the match with Drew versus Orton. Off the charts and very well done. As for now, a quick edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Hulk Hogan versus Bruce Lee. Who wins?
This question was asked to Jim Cornette on his podcast and Cheese decided to ask me as well. And I agree with Cornette. Bruce Lee was not a big man, but he was legit in every way, shape, and fashion and even trained others how to fight. Hogan was big and strong, but a legit, one on one shoot fight, Bruce Lee would kick Hulk Hogan’s ass, period!
Roddy Piper was never a World Champion. Would he have made a good NWA, WCW, or WWF Champion?
I don’t think so. Piper was awesome, but I can’t seem him working the type of schedule that the champions had to work against the variety of opponents. While his character would be fine for a transitional champion if needed, for the long term planning and the big picture of things, he didn’t need the belt and was probably better off without it.
Kevin Greene – does he belong in the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame?
A former San Francisco Forty-Niner and Carolina Panther, Greene had a couple of short runs with WCW and was actually pretty good. But in the big picture of things, I wouldn’t consider him a top of the list Hall of Famer for the WWE. More like a brief blip on the map rather than having a significant impact. If Mongo McMichael ever goes in, Greene could induct him, but aside from that, I don’t see him ever being a part of the WWE Hall of Fame.
MVP, Lio Rush or Lana. Who was the best manager for Bobby Lashley?
The less said about the relationship with Lana, the better. Rush did a great job, especially when you consider how young and often immature he can be at times, But in helping to shape Lashley as a legitimate contender and a serious wrestler, MVP has done the best job and is the best fit for the Mighty One.
What are your thoughts on Retribution officially signing WWE contracts?
It’s stupid and doesn’t make any sense, especially when the wrestlers who are part of Retribution are so easily recognizable and are already under WWE contracts. This whole angle has been thrown together and without much logic or common sense. I personally think it should be dropped and never spoken of again, ever.
What do you think about COVID-19 outbreaks within WWE and AEW right now?
I think people need to be more careful and use more common sense about socializing and gatherings. It sucks, but it is what it is.
Do you believe that Stephanie McMahon believes that WWE is in trouble by selling 43% of her Class A Stock?
I think Stephanie just needed an influx of cash for some reason and this is an easy and expedient way for her to do so. She still owns quite a bit of stock, has a major role in the company, and sits on the Board of Directors for WWE. It’s not a big deal.
I’m cool with openly gay wrestlers. I’m cool with odd gimmicks. That said I’m tired of watching Sonny Kiss air ride an imaginary dong every match. Dude is talented but I can’t take him seriously.
And I agree with you. Sonny is unique and not a bad wrestler or character, but he needs to tone down the comedy and excessive smiling and work on being more of a serious wrestler if he wants to get better or move up the ladder to be more than just a comedy act & joke. I don’t mind the personality so much because I have friends who are exactly that way. But there’s a time and place and in that ring, it’s not it. He needs to be more than just the “gay wrestler” if he wants to have long term success. I’d like to see Sammy get pissed and be serious for once. That’s when we will learn if he’s more than just a one-dimensional joke act. Until then, he’s just the curtain jerker with the glittery outfit.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions, use the comment box below. Or else drop me a line at Doug28352@yahoo.com. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay away from the crazies. I’ll see you at the matches.
