Tossing Salt Presents:
NXT Takeover: War Games
Thoughts & Predictions
December 5, 2020
Tomorrow night, it’s NXT Takeover: War Games with WWE and the stars of NXT presenting The Match Beyond x 2, live on the WWE Network. Are you ready to crank up the crystal ball and make some predictions? Let’s do this…
Men’s War Games Match: Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly) versus Kings of NXT (Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, NXT Tag Team Champion Danny Burch, and NXT Tag Team Champion Oney Lorcan) [Kings of NXT has Advantage]
This should be an epic event and one to rival even the days of the Horsemen and the Dusty Rhodes teams of brutality and awesomeness if you will. The Undisputed Era is the consummate unit with the all for one motto, much like Flair, Arn, Tully, and Ole were. They are THE TEAM in NXT. Thus, the faces, the new guys, the rag-tag partnership of convenience, will win. It’s Wrestling 101 booking and the way that the War Games always work. The faces win. The heels lose. And the fans get to see a great match.
Winners: Kings of NXT (Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan).
Women’s War Games Match: Team Blackheart (Shotzi Blackheart, NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai, Rhea Ripley, and Ember Moon) versus Team LeRae (Candice LeRae, Toni Storm, Dakota Kai, and Raquel Gonzalez) [Team Blackheart has Advantage]
The faces have the advantage? That’s a new twist for this kind of match, but I’m sure that Candice and company will use shenanigans and a dirty trick or two to quickly negate that and take control. They’re heels. That’s what they do. Expect Shotzi to do something crazy and borderline insane because she’s Shotzi and that’s what she does. Moon is recently returned from injury and Rhea Ripley is a legit bad-ass so I think this swings it into the Team Blackheart’s advantage. And as I said before, heels never win the War Games. Well, the Horsemen did win one with Larry Zbyszko as their partner, but I don’t see the Living Legendanywhere in sight.
Winners: Team Blackheart (Shotzi Blackheart, Io Shirai, Rhea Ripley & Ember Moon)
NXT North American Champion Leon Ruff versus Damian Priest versus Johnny Gargano.
There is no reason that Leon Ruff should be champion. There is no chance in hell that he should be winning this match and retaining the title that he never should have had in the first place. And so, he will. Win that is. And remain champion as he pins Priest.
Winner and STILL NXT North American Champion: Leon Ruff
Dexter Lumis versus Cameron Grimes in a Strap Match
Grimes has really developed into a great character and moved from being a comedy wrestler into the realm of tops guys and future champions. And a good old fashion strap-match is always fun to see. Somewhere up above, Wahoo McDaniel is drinking a bottle of JackDaniels and looking down, complaining that he could do it better (and to be honest, he could. Wahoo was and will always be the KIng of the Strap matches.) As for this match, look for Lumis to dominate and then Grimes to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat with shenanigans and a pained smirk on his face.
Winner: Cameron Grimes
Timothy Thatcher versus Tomasso Ciampa
Both men seem to be floundering in a meaningless direction here and could really use a big win. I think Ciampa can afford to lose more than Thatcher can, but Thatcher is a heel and with any loss, he can make excuses and justify it and get his heat back. Why isn’t this the Fight Pit? I guess they’ll save that for the rematch. Look for Thatcher and some outside help to steal the win. Ciampa destroys them after the match, but in the record book, Thatcher will be the man to get that check in the “Win Column”.
Winner: Timothy Thatcher
And there you go. It’s tomorrow night (Sunday), live on the WWE Network. It’s the return of War Games and promises to be a very exciting and entertaining event. NXT hasn’t let us down yet so let’s see if the streak continues. Thanks for reading. And with that, I’m out of here. Have a great day, stay safe and away from the crazies, and I’ll see you at the matches. Leave comments, questions, and thoughts if you’d like. I’d love to hear from you. Take care.
