Ultimate Wrestling Q&A: Sting, Pat Patterson, Curtis Axel & More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Sting, Pat Patterson, Curtis Axel & More
December 9, 2020

Yesterday was the anniversary of the murder of John Lennon. RIP Sir. Let’s talk wrestling.

If there does end up being an AEW/Impact Wrestling joint show, what matches would you like to see happen?

Jericho versus Tommy Dreamer, FTR versus The North, TJP versus Sammy Guevera, Moxley versus Sami Callihan, The Good Brothers versus The Young Bucks, and Omega versus Rich Swann.

Who would you like to see Sting wrestle against in AEW?

I don’t want to see Sting wrestle often in AEW, but matches against Jericho, Dustin Rhodes, & Matt Hardy could be fun to see.

Best Friends versus The West Hollywood Blondes. Who wins?

I like Best Friends, but my money will always be on Lenny Lane and Lodi.

Thoughts on Pat Patterson as a wrestler and as a booker?

I’ve only had the chance to see a few of Patterson’s matches from his prime, in the ’70s, but he was a very good wrestler. His biggest legacy though is behind the scenes. He was one of the best in laying out matches and created the Royal Rumble. That in itself says all that needs to be said. He was the man!

Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens versus The Usos. Who wins?

It would be an interesting clash of styles, but I think that Patterson and Stevens could find a way to match up with the younger and more athletic Uso Brothers. The Usos would dominate most of the match, but in the end, it’s brains over brawn and one “Bombs Away” by Stevens to give the two San Francisco legends the big win.

Where is Curtis Axel?

Axel currently hasn’t returned to wrestling after being released by WWE, most likely due to the pandemic and lack of live events currently taking place. But I suspect (am hoping) that he’ll pop up eventually as a trainer for the Performance Center or even on AEW or Impact Wrestling. Axel is a great wrestler, highly underrated as a character, but he is a legit top guy in my opinion. I don’t know where he’s at right now, but I’m hoping for a return soon to pro wrestling and our television screens.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions, give me a shout and let’s chat. Until the next time, take care of yourself and watch out for the crazies. I’ll see you at the matches.
