ROH Final Battle 2020 – Thoughts & Predictions…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ring Of Honor Final Battle 2020
Thoughts & Predictions
December 18, 2020

Tonight. available on pay-per-view, HonorClub & FITE, is Ring of Honor Final Battle, the 2020 edition. Even though I don’t usually cover ROH, I decided to break out the Sister Cleo limited edition guaranteed to predict the future with 14% accuracy, crystal ball. In other words, prediction time. So are you ready? Let’s do this.

ROH Champion Rush vs. Brody King.

I honestly don’t know much about Rush, but I like his look and in the few matches I’ve seen him in via YouTube, he seems like a tough hombre. Brody King is a talented dude that I’ve always felt was on the verge of being a big name. Is tonight his night? I want to say yes, but my gut says not yet. Expect a good fight and some close calls, but at the end of the night, the champion keeps his title.

Winner and STILL ROH Champion: Rush

Tony Deppen vs. LSG vs. Josh Woods vs. Dak Draper – Winner Receives ROH TV Title Match at FB 2020 later that night.

So who takes the win and gets a match later in the evening for the ROH TV title? All are worthy, but there is only one winner to rule them all. Let’s go with Woods. Again, it’s just the gut instinct, but it’s never failed me before.

Winner: Josh Woods

ROH TV Champion Dragon Lee vs. Four-Way Victor.

It’s Lee versus Woods in what should be a fun match. No real confusion as to the winner here though. Woods wrestled once already and will be worn down by the time he faces Dragon Lee. Lee takes advantage, has a few scary moments as it looks as if Woods will overcome the odds, but in the end, steals a win, and retains the title.

Winner and STILL ROH TV Champion: Dragon Lee

ROH Tag Team Champions Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham vs. Mark Briscoe & PCO.

Never bet against my man, Jay Lethal. I like this team of Briscoe and PCO and I could see them winning the belts, but I wouldn’t dig it quite as much. Look for Lethal and Gresham to retain.

Winners and STILL ROH Tag Team Champions: Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham.

ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham vs. Flip Gordon.

We need a title change at some point tonight. This is where it will happen. Does Gresham hold both the tag titles and the Pure Championship? I guess so. The title will flip here and Flip will think his name is Flash as he becomes the savior of the Pure Universe. No, I don’t know what I just said either, but look for a new champion.

Winner and NEW ROH Pure Wrestling Champion: Flip Gordon

Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs. Vincent & Bateman.

I like Mike Bennett. I never vote against Mike Bennett. Tonight, he’s teamed with Matt Taven. They look like winners to me.

Winners: Mike Bennett & Matt Taven

The Foundation’s Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus vs. Fred Yehi & Wheeler Yuta in the first-ever ROH Pure Rules Tag Team Match.

What is aPure Rules tag team match anyhow? I guess tag ropes, one save, and five seconds to clear the ring after tagging? Sounds right to me. I have a friend named Traci Williams. She’s not a wrestler but wanted to be back in her younger days. She would have been good at it too. She’s not the guy in this match obviously, but I’ll pick he and Titus just because of the name thing.

Winners: Tracey Williams & Rhett Titus

Danhusen vs. Brian Johnson.

A guy with a name I don’t know how to pronounce against a guy who shares a name with the lead singer of AC/DC. Might even be the same guy for all I know, but I doubt it. My choice is clear.

Winner: Brian Johnson.

And I guess that covers everything. Two more matches were scheduled, but have been canceled, that being ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Mexisquad vs. Shane Taylor & The Soldiers of Savagery due to Flamita and Bandido being pulled, and EC3 vs. Jay Briscoe due to EC3 being pulled. So those will probably happen in the near future instead. Any comments, questions, or thoughts are welcome. I guess I’m down and out of here for now. Until the next time, take care of yourself, stay safe, and I’ll see you at the matches.
