Tossing Salt Presents:
Flashback: Thirty Days of Dougie (2013)
Day 13: Public Behavior
DougMaynard.com
Way back in 2013, only eight years ago but it seems like a lifetime, I did one of many “Days of Dougie” blog series. But the thing is, I didn’t have this site yet and did them on my Facebook in the “Notes” section. And now that they’re showing up in my memories on Facebook, I think it’s time to share them one more time. So here you go. For the next thirty days or so, along with the current and new stuff I post on the site, we have some flashbacks as well. You’re welcome. Now, as I once heard said in the movie “Young Guns”, “Regulators, let’s move out!”. It was something to that effect anyhow. Let’s do this.
Thirty Days of Dougie – Part 13: Public Behavior
And here we are on Monday, January 14, 2013. It’s Day 13 of the “Thirty Days of Dougie” and already, I’m exhausted and losing interest rather quickly. I used to enjoy writing and have so much to say about anything and everything, but now, it’s actually turning into an effort and a job. Between Nic’s and the food bank, don’t I already have enough of those already? *sighs*.
Before I reach into the magic box, I want to ask a personal favor. I want everyone to send some prayers out for three very special and unique persons who have either now, or at one time, played extremely prominent roles in my life and mean a great deal to me:
Warren is a guy I’ve known since we were teenagers and now, he’s in the final days of a long and horrific battle against cancer. We haven’t really been close in quite a few years since our lives headed in different directions after school, but he made an impact on me oh so many years ago and he’s truly one of those characters that once you meet him, you’ll never forget him. He’s a cool guy and this world will be a much darker and sadder place when he’s gone.
Tian, my “wife” is so strong and so amazing. She’s been having a few medical issues as of late and had a doctor’s appointment for today that may or may not be life changing. We’re hoping for the best, but fearing for the worst. Please keep her in your thoughts.
And my main homie, my brother from another mother and the creative force behind the whole InFamous movement, K-Mak… He’s having back and leg problems and will soon be undergoing the knife for treatment, but the pain this young man goes through daily is pretty damn bad. No one should have to endure the physical agony as he does and my heart nearly breaks every time I watch him walk or turn and see the pain shoot through his body. He laughs it out and tries to be strong, but it’s not a pretty sight at all.
Keep my Peeps in your prayers, please. Thanks!
And now, let’s do the “Magic Box” thing and knock this whole “30 Days of Dougie” piece out of the ballpark. The topic for today is… “Public Behavior”.
Thirty Days of Dougie – Part 13: Public Behavior
January 14, 2013
This one should be short and sweet. If you’re in public, act like you have some damn sense in your head. Don’t scream! Don’t act stupid! Act like a responsible adult with something in between your ears besides smoke and ear-wax. In other words, look around you and if everyone else isn’t being a jackass, then why should you be the only one? If your grandma wouldn’t approve of how you’re acting or behaving, it’s quite simple. Three words for you:
Don’t do dat!
‘Nuff said!
And on that, I’m going to work. Have a great day!
Ubuntu!
