Tossing Salt Presents:
AEW 2021 Revolution PPV
Thoughts & Predictions
March 6, 2021
Coming up on Sunday, live from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, and on pay-per-view is All Elite Wrestling’s Revolution. So are you ready to channel the inner Sister Cleo and do a few predictions? Let’s do this…
AEW Champion Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley – No Ropes Exploding Barbed Wire Match.
For some reason, I have a feeling that this one might not be totally live and we may have a little prerecorded magic here and there with some of the rougher spots. It’s still going to be brutal and exciting though and I can already imagine Jim Cornette’s head exploding when he does the review later in the week. I’m not a big fan of either Omega or Moxley so as to who wins, I could care less. But with all the recent interaction between AEW and Impact Wrestling, as well as the possibility of some back and forth with New Japan, I think that having Omega as the AEW Champion works best. So look for Moxley to take the fall and then vanish for a bit to spend time with his wife and unborn child. I expect that we’ll see some activity from Omega allies such as the Good Brothers during this match as well. Full-fledged Bullet Club reunion? Who knows? Look for Omega to come out on top.
Winner and STILL AEW World Champion: Kenny Omega
Sting & Darby Allin vs. Team Taz’s Ricky Starks & FTW Champion Brian Cage – Street Fight.
It’s Sting’s first match in how long? There is no way that he’s losing here and taking a fall.
Winners: Sting & Darby Allin
AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho and MJF.
This one has me in a quandary. I would love to see Jericho and MJF as the tag team champions. That would be awesome. And I don’t think it would hurt the Bucks to lose if it’s booked right and could even be used as a catalyst to bring them more into the fold as part of the Bullet Club, AEW version. But for some reason, I think we’ll see some Inner Circle craziness and that might prevent Jericho and MJF from accomplishing their goals of being the tag team champions. Of course, I’m talking about Sammy Guevera. Sammy could come out, get involved, and cause his former teammates to lose. Or he could come out, pull a swerve, and help out his former partners and reveal it was a ruse all along and he’s still part of the Inner Circle. A tag team of MJF and Sammy would be fun to see. But let’s forget all that and get back to this match. I’m saying new champions.
Winners and NEW AEW Tag Team Champions: Chris Jericho & MJF
Matt Hardy vs. Adam Page – Big Money Match.
I like the Big Money gimmick and it’s probably the best Matt Hardy has looked since the early days of being “Broken”. Matt isn’t what he used to be, but I think he’s still capable of having a good match, and he and Page have great chemistry. I expect we’ll see some of the Dark Order out there and causing a little craziness, but in the end, it will be either the Hangman or the Money Man. My gut says Page takes this one.
Winner: Adam Page
Cody Rhodes vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Penta vs. Lance Archer vs. Max Caster vs. final competitor to be named – Ladder Match for TNT title match.
Just to note that Tony Khan said that the mystery person in his match is not the same person who is Hall of Fame worthy and will be signing a new deal with AEW. It’s someone else. So who? I’d love to see Fuego Del Sol get this spot and pull a Ryder, but I doubt it will be him. Let’s just throw a name out there to fill that sixth spot. Shawn Sparks. And now, let’s figure out a winner. I’ll go with Scorpio Sky. He’s been getting a little more airtime as of late and I think he and Darby would make for a great match. So let’s call it now.
Winner and NEW Number One Contender for the TNT Championship: Scorpio Sky
AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida vs. Women’s Eliminator
Tournament victor Ryo Mizunami.
I don’t know enough about either woman to really give a great analysis so I’ll just cut out the small talk and say it. Shida retains her title and wins here.
Winner and STILL AEW Women’s Champion: Hikaru Shida
Miro & Kip Sabian with Penelope Ford vs. Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor.
I think this is finally where we get to see the return of the beast that Miro can be. The Best Friends, minus one, are going down and going down hard. I don’t even have to ponder and explain this one. It’s just how it’s going to be.
Winners: Miro & Kip Sabian w/ Penelope Ford.
Casino Tag Team Royale featuring Private Party, Ortiz & Santana, Pac & Rey Fenix, Alex Reynolds & John Silver, Top Fight, Evil Uno & Stu Grayson, Bear Country, The Butcher & The Blade – winners earn AEW Tag Team Championship Match.
The Dark Order has two teams in this event so I think that will be figured in at the end of the match. Ortiz & Santana would be good, especially if my earlier prediction of Jericho and MJF winning the tag team titles comes true. I think I’ll just go for the Dark Order here. John Silver is awesome so my prediction goes to him and Alex Reynolds to take the win.
Winners and NEW Top Contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championship: John Silver & Alex Reynolds (The Dark Order)
The Buy-In: Dr. Britt Baker & Reba vs. Riho & Thunder Rosa.
Will this be where we see a surprise debut by Zelina Vega? One can only hope. I like the Doctor, but I’ve seen more than enough doctors over the past month and I’m getting tired of them. And thus, she must lose.
Winners: Riho & Thunder Rosa
The Mystery Hall Of Fame worthy wrestler who will be signing with AEW is…
If you read my most recent edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. you already know my answer for this one. I think that on Sunday night, at AEW Revolution, the newest member of the AEW roster will be revealed as Christian Cage.
