Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Eric Bischoff, Madusa, Maka Itoh & More
March 19 , 2021
So much to do and it all starts now with the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Enzo versus MJF – promo and mic skills only. Who’s better?
It’s a tough call because Enzo, as annoying as he could be, was excellent at working an audience and throwing out those tag-lines and catch-phrases. The man has skills. But in terms of variety and being able to adapt the promo to the situation, MJF is definitely one of the best guys currently in AEW or the business itself. And he’s only 25 years old so he’s only going to get better. MJF wins.
What is your opinion of Maki Itoh?
I had to google the name to remember who she was and now I know. She’s the small Japanese lady who sings and does comedy more than wrestling and did some skits with the Dark Order. She made a big impact on AEW and then almost immediately announced she’s headed back to Japan. My thoughts? She was funny in the Dark Order skits, has a charm and appeal to her, and it would be interesting to see more, but alas, that’s not going to happen it seems. So my opinion is she’s interesting. Film at 11.
Which decade of wrestling was the best in your opinion? 70’s 80’s or 90’s?
The late ’80s and early ’90s were the best because the matches were good, the stories were good, and it was a great time to be a wrestling fan.
So was the Thunder Rosa/Britt Baker unsanctioned match an apology for the Omega/Moxley sparklefest?
The Omega/Moxley match itself was actually damn good and just fizzled out at the end with that less than thrilling final few minutes. And the Rose versus Baker match was far better than anyone was expecting as both women pulled out all the stops and had an excellent match. Was it intended to be an apology for the other match? Who knows, but it sure as hell delivered on all counts, regardless of the reasons behind it.
Thoughts on Eric Bischoff as part of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2021?
I’m glad to see it happen. Bischoff, like him or hate him, is a definite Hall of Fame worthy candidate due to the success of WCW under his leadership, the changes he was responsible for in sports-entertainment both in WCW and WWE, his on-air roles as a character, and the entirety of his career. This is one of the few names that no one can argue against. Congratulations to Eazy E. on an honor well deserved.
Madusa mentioned recently that she’d love to wrestle Charlotte Flair. Should WWE make this happen and would you like to see it?
If Madusa, aka Alundra Blaze, can pass the physical requirements and be medically cleared to wrestle, I think a match with the former AWA and WWF Women’s Champion against Charlotte would be epic to see, perhaps as part of a second all-women Evolution pay-per-view for WWE? Hell, I’d love to see several matches between the current ladies and the former Divas if possible. How about Lita & Trish, Victoria, Molly Holly, Kelly Kelly, Torrie Wilson, and the Bella Twins all coming back for a one-off match against current superstars. Melina still wrestles too so she’d be available. The talent is there and while I don’t know what the actual numbers were for the first Evolution pay-per-view event, I’m sure it scored pretty well and better than a lot of the B-rated shows that WWE often does (see Fastlane). And if Madusa is making noise and wants to wrestle, then let her wrestle. It’s best for business and fans (I) want to see it happen.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered in a future column, just give me a shout and let’s chat. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
