Welcome to the long weekend and it’s not just for the sake of having a long weekend, as “Heels Up Harris” seemed to imply. Men and women sacrificed their lives to allow us the freedoms we enjoy. All gave some and some gave all. And though it’s not much, this extra-long edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A is dedicated to their honor and memory. Happy Memorial Day! Now, let’s talk ‘rassling! Let’s do this.

Recast the show “Are You Being Served?”, with WWE superstars.

What a question, but I will do my best. Are You Being Served is a classic comedy series from the BBC that ran for several years in the UK and has a great following, as it should, here in the United States as well. If you don’t know who the characters are, then go look it up on YouTube and prepare to be entertained. I’ll just list the character’s name from the series and then what WWE superstar would be damn good in that role.
Mr. Humphries: The Miz
Mr. Lucas: Dolph Ziggler
Captain Peacock: William Regal
Mr. Grainger: The Undertaker
Mr. Rumbold: Paul Heyman
Miss Brahms: Alexa Bliss
Mrs. Slocombe: Mickie James
Mr. Harman: Seth Rollins
Young Mr. Grace: Vince McMahon

WWE has released former RAW announcer Tom Phillips. Thoughts?

I would be interested in knowing why Phillips was released, but my guess is that they wanted to bring in the new guy for RAW and didn’t want to have to deal with Phillips, who did an excellent job as the lead announcer for RAW for quite a while, still being around and in the picture. If he’s gone, through no fault of his own that I can see, the new kid, Jimmy Smith, can work without the extra pressure of having the former guy around. It’s a crazy and convoluted situation, but for WWE, it seems to be par for the course.

Who is better – Kenny Omega or Randy Orton?

Omega has his fans, but he is not Randy Orton. Not even close.

Who would you like to see Renee Young interview on her podcast?

I’d love to see Renee, who’s a great interviewer, sit down and talk with Lisa Moretti, aka Ivory. A conversation with Ronda Rousey would be interesting and hell, while we’re at it, how about the “First Lady Of ProfessionalWrestling” Missy Hyatt? Just two girls chatting. I have a feeling that it would be a fascinating conversation.

Thoughts on the recent passing of Don Kernodle?

I remember Kernodle as a job-guy to start back in the Mid-Atlantic region and then the change, under the guidance of Sgt. Slaughter, where he became a top guy. Tag team titles with Slaughter, Ivan Koloff, Bob Orton, and of course, Private Nelson. Kernodle was just a damn good wrestler and had few rivals so far as in the ring goes. He was just a good old boy from North Carolina who carved out a nice spot in the Mid-Atlantic wrestling history and definitely will be missed. Rest in Peace Mr. Kernodle, and condolences to your family, friends, and fans.

How would you book Roman versus Rock at Wrestlemania?

The Rock shows up on Smackdown for a live appearance to announce something for the WWE. He’s confronted by Roman for not clearing the appearance first with the Tribal Chief, the Head of The Table. Rock points out that he’s the “Great One” and true head of the family with his success. Roman gets pissed and argues. Rock tells Roman that if he wants to be the big guy, then earn it by facing The Great One at Wrestlemania. One quick segment and there you go, the instant main event.

Opinion on Rick Martel?

One of the best in-ring performers of his era and while the promos were a little rough, due to his heavy accent, a true icon and legend, a former AWA World Champion, and definitely a man who belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame.

What was a mid-card feud that you loved but feel it doesn’t get the recognition that it deserves?

The first feud that came to mind when I saw this question was Chris Jericho versus DeanMalenko was back in WCW. I think it took Jericho over the top with his entertainment skills and made everyone take a second look at Malenko as a tough and legit top guy. Also, Lord Steven Regal versus Larry Zbyszko battle over the WCW World Television Championship comes to mind. It was short, but a true classic with one of the best TV wrestling matches of all time. As Vince would say, just good shit!

Rumors are that Jinder Mahal is being built for a feud with Drew McIntyre. Would you like to see this happen?

Jinder versus Drew? I’d like to see it and it could be a good war between two similar-styled performers. Book it Vince.

Would you be interested in seeing Tyson Fury return to WWE?

Who? I had almost forgotten that he was part of the WWE for a cup of coffee a couple of years ago. I didn’t care then and could care less now.

Who would you have WALTER feud against on the main WWE roster?

WALTER is damn impressive and if he was to come to the main roster, after a few battles against maybe Cesaro or Seth Rollins, how about a few matches against the Head of The Table. WALTER versus Roman Reigns sounds good to me. WALTER versus Randy Orton could be fun to see as well.

Would you be interested in seeing either Brooke Hogan or Nick Hogan inside a wrestling ring as active wrestlers?

The Hogan era of professional wrestling is over, brother. Let’s keep it that way. No Brooke or Nick in the ring. Maybe if this was a few years ago when Hulk was still relevant and they were young enough to pick up on things and learn, but in 2021, my answer is a resounding “Hell no!”.

Thoughts on the “zombie invasion” at WWE Wrestlemania Backlash and on RAW the next night?

It was dumb at Backlash and was just as dumb the next night on RAW. Sometimes, I just have to shake my head and say, “What the…?”. And believe me, I did.

Thoughts on the Velveteen Dream?

A talented young man who, it seems to me, is getting a raw deal. He’s good in the ring and had a great character, but got released and a career pretty much ended over allegations which, if true were disgusting, but were never proven. No criminal charges and investigations by WWE turned up not a thing. But WWE pulled The Dream, real name Patrick Clark, and then after keeping him on the shelf for a year, terminated him. Dream was a good character and fun to watch and it’s a shame that things ended as they have, but it is what it is. Welcome to 2021 and the world of Cancel Culture, be the allegations true or not. Hopefully, Clark will rebound and be okay. I hope so.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered in a future column, then give me a shout and we can definitely do it. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay safe. Have a good Memorial Day weekend and I’ll see you at the matches.
