Ultimate Wrestling Q&A: Andrade, New Jack & More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Andrade, New Jack & More
June 6, 2021

It’s Sunday afternoon and you know what that means. It means I’m washing clothes and already dreading going to work tomorrow morning. And it also means it’s time to talk pro wrestling with another edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

Andrade is now All-Elite. Thoughts?

I think it’s a good move for Andrade and a good signing by AEW. He’s a good wrestler and capable of having some great matches if he doesn’t get lost in the crowd that is AEW’s bloated roster. Capable of working both the Lucha style of wrestling or the American/WWE style, Andrade should be a strong performer for the company especially in terms of reaching the Latin American audience. This signing is a win-win for both AEW and Andrade.

Do you think there will be any more mass firings in WWE due to budget cuts?

I’m not sure, but it wouldn’t surprise me. As I said in an earlier Q&A, I don’t think Dana Brooke, Keith Lee, Erik & Ivar, The Lucha House Party, or any of the Cruiserweights should get too comfortable right now. Before this year is over, I think we’ll see at least one more mass deletion of the roster. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am.

Midnight Rockers versus The Young Bucks. Who wins?

Shawn Michaels and Marty Janetty versus The Young Bucks? It would be an interesting match to be sure, but I don’t think it would be as good as one might expect. I think the edge goes to Shawn and Marty and when the fight was over, it would be the Midnight Rockers getting the win.

Does New Jack belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?

No, I don’t think so and I’ll tell you why. Everyone is singing the praises of Jack right now due to his recent passing, but there were so many times that he was unprofessional and broke the cardinal rule of protecting your opponent, it’s not even funny. Jack was well known and his antics put butts in the seats, no question on that, but unless it’s under the Legacy Induction, he will never be put into the WWE Hall of Fame, and to be honest, in my opinion, he doesn’t deserve to be there.

Who would be in your Mt. Rushmore of wrestling bookers/promoters?

There is a big difference between bookers and promoters and thus, I’m going to do two different versions of my Mt. Rushmore, one for the men who actually booked the matches and stories, and one for the men who ran the companies that paid the bills and governed the overall companies. For bookers, I’d say Ole Anderson, Jim Cornette, George Scott & Kevin Sullivan. For promoters, I’d say Vince McMahon, Jim Crockett Jr., Fritz Von Erich, and Bill Watts.

Is the AEW roster becoming too bloated and large?

To put it simply, I would say yes. Too many talents and too many factions and not enough TV time to give everyone a chance to perform regularly. Maybe once the live shows resume, things will work out better and we’ll see everyone get more opportunities to do their thing, but right now, with limited TV exposure, the roster is too large and bloated and it’s too easy for folks to get lost in the mix.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered, just let me know in the comment box or at my e-mail of Doug28352@yahoo.com. Until the next time, stay good and be safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
