Tossing Salt Presents:
Impact Wrestling 2021 Emergence PPV
Thoughts & Predictions
August 20, 2021
DougMaynard.com
Tonight on Impact+ and FITE.TV, Impact Wrestling will have the 2021 edition of their Emergence pay-per-view. That means it’s time to break out the old crystal ball and dress up like Sister Cleo. No, it’s not a drag queen fetish. It’s prediction time. Let’s do this.
Impact Wrestling Champion Christian Cage vs. Brian Myers.
It’s the man who just came out of retirement versus the man who made a career out of a losing streak, now both revitalized and doing better than ever before. This is going to be one hell of a good match. I have no doubts at all about that. I can’t really see Christian losing the Impact Championship this soon, but he has a match coming up against Kenny Omega, the man he beat for the Impact Wrestling Championship, very soon, and maybe he has that AEW Championship on his mind? Who knows? And since Myers came to Impact, he has been nothing short of impressive and unlike Christian, he’s not under contract to AEW but is instead a solid member of the Impact Wrestling family. I can see arguments for both men winning here and either man as the champ makes me happy. For the sake of shock value, I think we’ll see a title change.
Winner and NEW Impact Wrestling Champion: Brian Myers
X-Division Josh Alexander vs. Jake Something.
This match is going to be another good one. Of that, I have no doubt. And you know what else I have no doubt about? Alexander isn’t losing that title anytime soon. He may be in for a fight, but when the smoke settles, the title stays right where it’s at.
Winner and STILL X-Division Champion: Josh Alexander
Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo and Matthew Rehwoldt vs. Trey Miguel and Melina.
Purrazzo has been so damn good as champion and I’m looking forward to seeing her at the NWA Women’s PPV next week. That will be damn good. But this match, I don’t think it’ll work out in her favor. A mixed-tag against Melina and Trey Miguel? Matthew Rehwoldt is a decent wrestler, but he’s the weak link in this match and I think he’ll end up taking the fall for his team.
Winners: Melina & Trey Miguel
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers vs. Violent by Design vs. Rich Swann & Willie Mack.
The belts are coming home to Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. So I have spoken and so it will be done.
Winners and NEW Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, The Good Brothers.
Sami Callihan vs. Moose vs. Chris Sabin vs. Ace Austin to determine top contender to Impact Wrestling Championship.
All of these men are worthy contenders and any of them would make good challengers for either Christian or Myers at a future event. The only question is which one will get the nod here with this match. I keep thinking Sami Callihan, but then my inner voice says that Ace Austin may have an ace up his sleeve that we don’t know about and he’s the one to keep an eye on. My inner voice is rarely wrong.
Winner and NEW #1 Contender for the Impact World Championship: Ace Austin
Petey Williams vs. Steve Maclin.
The original master of the Candian Destroyer can not be defeated.
Winner: Petey Williams
Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green vs. Shera & Roht Raju.
Matt is riding high in his new role as the King of the Death Matches and new GCW World Champion. He’s not losing any time soon. He may no longer be Long Island Iced Z, but he’s with his lady and they’re winning tonight. Woo woo woo – you know it!
Winners: Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green
Madison Rayne vs. Taylor Wilde.
Madison Rayne just returned to Impact Wrestling and she didn’t come back to lose. Wilde is damn good and it’ll be a good match, but Madison will Rayne down on Taylor and the ending will be Wilde, but all Madison getting the win.
Winner: Madison Rayne
Decay vs. No Way & Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans & Fallah Bahh.
There is No Way that Decay is winning here. They’ll get the last laugh at the end of the match, but the actual win goes to the mismatched team of No Way, Steelz, Evans, and Bahh. I don’t know why, but that’s just how it’s going to go.
Winners: No Way, Tasha Steelz, Savannah Evans & Fallah Bahh
And there you go. Am I right? Am I wrong. Tune in tonight at Impact Wrestling Emergence and we can all find out together. And don’t forget that the pay-per-view has a special starting time of 7:00 pm so it can end at 10:00 and the fans can go watch AEW Rampage. Rumors are that we may see some guy who calls himself the Best In The World. That’s on TBS at 10:00 pm. I have to work so I’ll miss the PPV, but I’ll definitely be watching Rampage to see how it goes. Pipe-Bomb!
Thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
