Happy Birthday to Chris Steele, one-half of one of the best tag teams to ever work the NC Indy scene, The Main Attraction. Now, there’s a lot of questions so let’s get busy. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A and it starts right now.
Ric Flair said this about Seth Rollins: “You were terrified or horrified by a wrestling fan? Come on, man. What I would have done if I was Seth, which everybody should learn from this, is that even if the referees had him, I would have jumped back on him…” Is Flair right?
The more Ric talks, the more embarrassed I am for him. He’s referring of course to the Seth Rollins attack from a fan at RAW a few weeks ago. The guy came out of nowhere, tackled Seth, and Seth took him down with a front facelock until referees and agents were able to secure the guy. Then Seth backed off. And Seth did exactly the right thing. If he had punched the guy or kicked him, it’d be an instant lawsuit just waiting to happen. This isn’t the seventies anymore and what worked back then won’t work now, especially for a wrestler in WWE or AEW. Flair is just talking to be talking and needs to start actually thinking before he speaks. He doesn’t care so long as he can get some publicity though. Sad.
Do you believe that the COVID-19 Omicron variant will affect Pro Wrestling during 2022?
To a degree, yes, but it’ll mostly be about masks being required and maybe some travel restrictions to Canada or Europe. But as the year progresses, I expect to see the restrictions lighten up a bit. It’s an election year and that’ll change a lot of the mandates and restrictions the closer we get to November.
What are your thoughts on Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns happening at Day One?
That sounds good to me because it frees up a place for a different opponent for Roman, if he keeps the belt, to face at Mania, someone with the same bloodline perhaps?
What did you think of Cody Rhodes going through a flaming table on AEW Dynamite?
I wonder what the hell was Cody thinking? It’s a crazy spot that really doesn’t have a place in wrestling in my opinion. Cody’s back looks bad and it wasn’t even that great of a spot. It’s only memorable for all the worst of reasons and Tony Khan should never have allowed it to happen. Hopefully, we will not ever see it again.
Does Randy Orton’s Pay Per View or WWE RAW match records matter?
It’s nice padding for Orton’s resume and I guess it gives the announcers some stats and something to talk about, but in the big picture of things, it’s not really a big deal or all that important.
Do you agree with Booker T about Triple H being a bigger star than CM Punk before Triple H started dating Stephanie?
Booker, just like Ric Flair, says a lot of things just to be saying something and to create some controversy, but here, he might be on to something. Except for the time he was punished for the Curtain Call, Hunter has always had a good relationship with Creative and has been a top guy with strong pushes. Punk got over in spite of WWE Creative and the level of push they repeatedly gave him. He never had the full power of the WWE machine behind him. Hunter did and thus, was more often than not, the bigger star.
Do you agree with WWE’s decision to stop selling DVD or Blu-Ray discs of their events?
Sales are way down and no one is buying them so why keep making them? WWE is absolutely right on this call.
Should the WWE discontinue its Cruiserweight Title?
I’m not even sure who the Cruiserweight Champion is at this point and time, but so far as the WWE keeping the belt around, I would say yes. It’s something for the mid-card talents and smaller wrestlers to challenge for and maybe one day, we’ll get a champion worthy of getting a push and some kind of moment in the spotlight. The Cruiserweight title can be an important thing for the WWE when it’s given the proper attention and used in a proper manner. Just keep it where it is and maybe one day, it’ll be used correctly again.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to have answered, just drop me a line and we’ll chat. Until the next time, take care and stay good. I’ll see you at the matches.
