Coming up on Saturday, February 9, 2022, live on Fite.TV and YouTube are the National Wrestling Alliance and their most recent event, NWA PowerrrTrip. It’s a stacked event and definitely worth checking out. Are you ready for a few predictions? Let’s do this.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship: Trevor Murdoch (c) vs. Matt Cardona

Who would have ever thought that a fight for the oldest, most respected World Championship title would be these two men, a tag team wrestler and Zack Ryder? But here we are and this is actually a match I’m looking very forward to seeing. Ryder has really reinvented himself since his WWE release, working everywhere and being a great heel. And Murdoch, he’s not flashy, but he’s old-school tough as hell and has been a great representative for the NWA as their champion. As for this match, I want to see Cardona win, but my gut says that winning this title would hurt his character more than help. He’s going to be a World Champion at some point, probably very soon, but it won’t be on Saturday. The better choice, in my opinion, for the NWA, would be to see Murdoch retain.

Winner and STILL NWA World Champion: Trevor Murdoch

NWA World Women’s Championship: Kamille (c) vs. Taryn Terrell

I’m not sure about this match or the two women involved, being only vaguely familiar with them, but I’m sure that they’re both good wrestlers. I do remember Terell from an earlier run in TNA/Impact, and some time with the WWE where she was terminated after a fight with her then-husband, Drew McIntyre. Oh yeah, she was also the General Manager of WWECW for a while, using the name Tiffany. Okay, that revelation does it for me. She was part of Vince McMahon’s ECW? She needs to lose.

Winner and STILL NWA Women’s Champion: Kamille

NWA National Heavyweight Championship: Chris Adonis (c) vs. Anthony Mayweather (aka Crimson)

This one is tough for me because I’ve always been a big fan of Chris Adonis, aka Chris Masters. That being said, I’ve been saying since Day 1 when I first saw him in TNA, that Anthony Mayweather, aka Crimson, is a future big star with all the “it factor” in the world. And now it’s one versus the other. Hell, let’s just flip a coin. Heads for Adonis and tails for Mayweather. And tails it is.

Winner and NEW NWA National Heavyweight Champion: Anthony Mayweather (Crimson)

I Quit: Nick Aldis vs. Thom Latimer

Another great match that could easily go either way. The stipulation is “I Quit” so automatically, we know we’re going to have shenanigans in this match. I can’t see Aldis quitting for anything, but I really can’t see Latimer doing it either. Oh, snap, I just remembered something. Latimer is the ex-husband of Charlotte Flair. Also, he and Aldis used to be partners and then feuded back in TNA. So here’s how it goes down. Someone else, maybe even Latimer’s real-life girlfriend Kamille, gets involved. Latimer gets hold of Kamille and “threatens to hurt her” unless Aldis quits. Aldis, being the gentleman (and baby-face) says he quits in order to save the fair maiden. Thus, Latimer gets the win and Aldis looks like a sucker, but he’ll get revenge later.

Winner: Thom Latimer

Mike Knox vs. Pope

I like Mike Knox, but Elijah Burke, better known as The Pope, is one hell of a talented dude. The faces need some wins on this show so I think they’ll get one here.

Winner: The Pope

No DQ, Falls Count Anywhere: Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs. The Fixers

The Fixers, Jay Bradley and Wrecking Ball Legursky, are an impressive team and fun to watch, but Mike Bennett and Matt Taven have that ROH vibe going on and are part of some big things at Impact Wrestling. I don’t think they’re losing here.

Winners: Matt Taven & Mike Bennett

2 Out Of Three Falls: Colby Corino vs. Rhett Titus

This one might be the dark-horse match of the night. Both of these guys are so good and can really go in that ring. It’s hard to pick a winner here, but I’ll go with Colby on this one. I recently watched the match he had with his father, former NWA Champion Steve Corino, on YouTube and it literally blew me away. This kid is good. So expect Titus to get the first fall and then Colby will come from behind to get the next two falls and a big victory.

Winner: Colby Corino

Tyrus, Jordan Clearwater, Marshe Rockett, & BLK Jeez vs. Cyon, Mims, Rush Freeman, & Alex Taylor

My boy Tyrus, the NWA World Television Champion, is on one of the teams and Tyrus ain’t gonna lose here. But wait, it’s a tag team event so he doesn’t have to lose or take the fall. Hmmm. Yeah, I’m smelling an upset here.

Winners: Cyon, Mims, Rush Freeman & Alex Taylor.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. So, who do you think will be the winners and losers at NWA PowerrrTrip? Let me know in the comments. Until the next time, take care and be good. I’ll see you at the matches.
