Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Woman, Tag Team Title Unification & More
May 11, 2022
More loaded than Ric Flair at the bar or HBK on the Somas, it’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Does Woman (Nancy Sullivan Benoit) belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?
In my opinion, I would say yes. From her days as the Fallen Angel in Florida, to her time as Robin Green, to the time she managed The Sandman in ECW and The Horsemen in WCW, she’s had a remarkable career. Respected and well liked by everyone and never failing to make an impact, regardless of who she was managing, Woman was a shining gem among the wrestling managers of the era. Unfortunately, due to the way she died and her forever connection to Chris Benoit, she’ll never be inducted. It’s a shame though because she definitely does deserve it.
If you could pick one person or team to induct into the WWE Hall of Fame, who would it be?
So many people deserve it such as Woman, who I mentioned above, Ivan Koloff, Demolition, Sir Oliver Humperdink, Jimmy Valiant, The Anderson Brothers, etc., but my immediate pick? That would be the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, Dennis Condrey) with Jim Cornette.
The Andersons (Ole, Gene, and Arn) versus The Shield (Roman, Seth, and Ambrose). Who wins?
If I’m doing the booking, I’d have Ole, Gene, and Arn win. True, the Shield would dominate 90% of the match and it would be an absolute chaotic brawl from bell to bell, but once Ole & Gene get hold of Ambrose and start working on that arm, the wear, tear, and grinding down would allow them to get the big win.
You’re booking a Legend’s Card event. What would your show look like? (Seven Matches).
To make it more fun, I’ll only use living wrestlers who could arguably still go today. My main event would be Ric Flair, who still is trying to wrestle again, versus Sting. After that, it’d be The American Males (Buff Bagwell & Scotty Riggs) versus The Rock & Roll Express. Madusa versus Ivory. Jerry Lawler versus Larry Zbyszko. PG-13 (Jamie Dundee & Wolfie D) & Doug Gilbert versus Three Count (Shane Helms, Evan Karagias & Shannon Moore). Jazz versus Awesome Kong. And finally, Gangrel & Lance Storm versus The Disco Inferno & Alex Wright.
Danhausen versus Papa Shango. Who wins?
One uses voodoo and the other uses curses. And sometimes, in between the shenanigans, they actually wrestle a little bit. Since tonight is Danhausen’s in-ring wrestling debut for AEW, I’ll go with him for the win. Very nice, very evil.
It looks like WWE is going to drop the idea of tag team title unification between the Usos and RK-Bro. Good idea or not?
It’s a good idea because the WWE, as it’s currently structured, needs two tag team titles, one for each brand. As this current idea of the Unified WWE Universal Champion with Roman Reigns proves, having only one champion hurts the product and wastes so many people, who could be wrestling, having great matches, and building good stories about chasing after the big belt, but instead are sitting in the back while the one champion works one challenger at a time for a several month period. Two brands means two champions, be it tag or singles wrestling.
How do you think Wendi Richter, Madusa, or Sherri Martel, in their prime, would fare in today’s women’s divisions of WWE, AEW, or Impact?
I think Madusa and Sherri would both adapt well and do well in today’s wrestling enviroment. Madusa had the athletic and fighting background, while Sherri was fearless and willing to try or do anything. Those two would do fine. Wendi though, I just don’t see it working out quite as well. Wendi was an okay wrestler for her era, but compare her matches against those of women like Charlotte, Asuka, Sasha, etc. It’s not even close.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, questions, or any thoughts to share are welcome and appreciated. And I guess that’s all for now. Until the next time, take care and be good. I’ll see you at the matches.
