Welcome to the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. It’s a long one today so let’s forget about the chit-chat and just get right to it. Let’s get ready to rumble. Let’s do this.
Logan Paul has officially signed with the WWE. Thoughts?
Personally, I think it’s a good move by WWE. Paul has how many followers on social media? The guy looked great at Wrestlemania and he respects the business. He’s athletic, and a good talker, and he gets it. While not on par with Ronda Rousey or Pat McAfee, Paul has a legit background in UFC, and that, when factored in with the celebrity part, it’s a great call by WWE. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can and will do.
Christian’s promo on Jungle Boy. Too far? And what is up with Luchasaurus?
Well, first he commented on Jungle Boy’s father being dead and then Christian remarked on how all of Jungle Boy’s family should be dead. Well, all except for the Mom who Christian claims are sweet on him. And yes, it was a little raw, but guess what. It worked. The crowd was ready to explode. Christian is a great old-school heel and he did exactly what he needed to do. MJF may have some competition as the top bad guy in AEW if Christian keeps this up. I liked it. And as for Luchasaurus, he needed a slight makeover and this was a good move to allow him to refresh his character as a slimy heel, affiliated with Christian Cage. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens now when Jungle Boy is able to return from his injuries and confront his former partner and mentor. It’s classic wrestling booking 101 and I want to see what happens next.
Jeff Hardy pleaded not guilty. WTF? Three times the legal limit and video of the cops having to pull their guns on him. Again, WTF? Thoughts?
If Jeff pleaded guilty, it would be totally stupid and leave him at the mercy of the judge, resulting in most likely a long prison sentence. By pleading not guilty, he has a chance to work out a compromise, plea-bargain, and hopefully not end up in prison for the rest of his life. This gives Jeff something to work with instead of just saying, “I did it! Lock me up!” It’s a smart legal strategy by Jeff and his attorney.
Rocky Johnson has 5 kids he never acknowledged. Should The Rock open his arms and accept his newly found siblings? And does this change your opinion/thoughts on Rocky Johnson?
My opinion of Rocky has always been that he was a good worker in the ring and a talented wrestler, but as I’ve learned more about the man, not the wrestler, but the man, I’ve also always felt that he was a sleaze. He’s a pedophile, a corrupt and sad excuse for a person, and as these new revelations prove, a dead-beat dad to the max as well. I think his behavior is one of the reasons that Dwayne, The Rock, is such a good dude. It’s like he’s compensating in some ways for the piece of trash his dad was. It’s just my opinion, but The Rock goes out of his way to help others and show appreciation for the people who have been there for him in his life. His dad though, not so much. As for meeting his new siblings, I can understand the hesitancy. He’s the Rock. How long before they start asking for $$$$?
Why was there never a masked World Champion? I think Masked Superstar would have been a great NWA Champion.
There was a masked man as the WWE Champion in Rey Mysterio, but I get what you’re saying. Superstar would have been a great NWA Champion, but I guess trying to build and promote a masked man as the top guy for the NWA would have been hard to do. Plus if I remember correctly, when the Midnight Rider (Dusty Rhodes) beat Harley Race for the NWA title, he had to give up the belt because the NWA allegedly had a (kayfabe) rule that a masked man had to unmask for NWA officials before being allowed to be the champ. A classic Dusty-finish where the good guy wins, but the champ keeps the belt and stays champ. But realistically, I guess it was just the right masked man that the entire NWA management could agree on just never came up.
Does AEW even care about the Dark Order?
The only thing that seems to be keeping the Dark Order alive is that they were Brodie Lee’s group. But AEW doesn’t use them often, promote them as a group, or do anything with them. There are too many factions in AEW and the Dark Order has just gotten lost in the shuffle. It’s too bad because, with the right leadership and booking, they could be a force to be reckoned with.
Who would you consider the Top 5 NWA World Champions?
In order, I’d say Harley Race, Ric Flair, Lou Thesz, Jack Brisco, and Nick Aldis.
Great Khali versus Yokozuna. Who wins?
Khali is big, but Yoko was a far better wrestler, even with that size. Yoko would win.
Jim Ross has been removed from the AEW Dynamite Announce Team and moved to AEW Rampage instead. Taz is being moved from Rampage to Dynamite. Thoughts?
I think it’s probably a good move. Ross doesn’t need to be on the AEW Commentary team when Schiavone is already there. They are both better as lead announcers and when you have two guys doing the same job, who leads? On Rampage, Ross will definitely be the lead guy working with a color guy instead of having to compete for lines with Schiavone. It’s also less work as Rampage is only an hour and remember, Ross, is in his ’70s now. I think it’ll definitely be less stress and work for him.
Forbidden Door was off the charts. Do you think there will be another with New Japan and AEW? Do you think there will ever be a Forbidden Door style PPV with AEW and WWE working together?
I think AEW will attempt to make this a regular event, most likely with New Japan, given the success of the Forbidden Door PPV. I’d like to see them maybe do some shows co-promoting with Impact Wrestling or MLW as well. And do I ever think AEW and WWE will co-promote a show together? Nah, that’s not going to happen. Not now and not ever.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered, drop me a line and let me know. And with that, I’m out of here for now. I think I have some PPV predictions to do. Until the next time, take care and be good. Watch out for those surprise roll-ups, and I’ll see you at the matches.
