Thoughts & Predictions

Coming up on Saturday on pay-per-view, live from Newark, NJ at the Prudential Center, it’s All Elite Wrestling’s Full Gear 2022. Another big show with the best of AEW and ROH talent. Are you ready for a few predictions? Let’s do this.
AEW Champion Jon Moxley w/ William Regal vs. MJF.
It’s all been building up to this and let’s just keep it simple. If MJF doesn’t win, they’re going to have a riot on their hands. The only real question is will MJF work as a face or will Stokely Hathaway and The Firm get involved to cause a distraction and allow MJF to win by dastardly means? I’ll go for the latter. We’ll see The Firm get involved and MJF will seem to be helping Moxley drive them off, but then as soon as Moxley has his back turned, MJF lays the smackdown on him and captures his first AEW World Championship.
Winner and NEW AEW World Champion: MJF
AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed w/ Billy Gunn vs. Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee.
The Acclaimed will be doing a lot of scissoring with Daddy Ass at the end of the night as they celebrate their win and retain their titles. It’s not time for a title switch yet.
Winners and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Acclaimed
AEW Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter.
Another match where it’s pretty easy to predict. This should be a great match, but that belt is staying exactly where it is.
Winner and STILL AEW Interim Women’s Champion: Toni Storm
Ring of Honor Champion Chris Jericho vs. Bryan Danielson vs. Sammy Guevara vs. Claudio Castagnoli.
This is actually the match I’m most interested in. How will Sammy and Jericho get along when there is gold on the line? And then with Claudio and Danielson added, this is the one match where anything can happen, and anyone can win and it wouldn’t be an upset in the slightest. I think we’ll get a new ROH Champion. How about Claudio? Works for me.
Winner and NEW ROH Champion: Claudio Castagnoli
AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill vs. Nyla Rosa.
Jade isn’t losing that belt anytime soon. Nyla will give her a good fight and take her to the limit, but in the end, it’ll be a Baddie’s kind of night.
Winner and STILL AEW TBS Champion: Jade Cargill
AEW Championship Eliminator Tournament Finals.
Ethan Page w/ Stokley Hathaway versus TBA (Winner of Ricky Starks/Lance Archer on Rampage Friday night).
So it’s two predictions for the price of one. Let’s start off with who will be fighting to be in the Eliminator Tournament finals between Ricky Starks versus Lance Archer. Isn’t Archer supposed to be a heel? I can’t see Tony doing a heel versus heel match as one of the main events so let’s go with the face of AEW, the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Ricky Starks winning over Archer to go to the final match. And then it’s Ethan Page versus Ricky Starks. A tough call, but I suspect that Archer will get involved somehow. Also, Stokley will be at the ringside to get involved as well. It will all make for a long night for Ricky Starks. Look for Page to take home the win.
Winner of the Eliminator Tournament: Ethan Page w/ Stokley Hathaway
Saraya vs. Dr. Britt Baker.
This is Saraya’s first match in how many years? She’s not losing on the first night back.
Winner: Saraya
Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal vs. Sting and Darby Allin.
Poor Jay Lethal. We all know who is taking the fall here. Sting is not going to lose. Jeff is back, but with his status and role, he’s not taking the fall. Darby is Darby. Poor Jay.
Winners: Sting & Darby Allin
Steel Cage Match: Jungle Boy vs. Luchasaurus w/ Christian Cage
This should be Jungle Boy Jack Perry’s coming out moment as a singles star where he finally shows the world why he’s considered one of the Four Pillars of AEW. Luchasaurus will be the mean old dinosaur we all know he is, and I’m sure that Christian will get involved a few times as well. But the winner? As is often said in the cartoon George of the Jungle, “Watch out for that… tree!”. Jungle Boy wins.
Winner: Jungle Boy
AEW TNT Champion Wardlow vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Samoa Joe.
Wardlow has absolutely no momentum left and the whole turn by Samoa Joe was dumb in my opinion. I’m just through with both of these guys. Let’s see an upset as the third guy takes the win. Doesn’t Joe have a belt too? Why isn’t it on the line? It doesn’t matter. Hobbs wins.
Winner and NEW AEW TNT Champion: Powerhouse Hobbs
AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle vs. The Elite.
We all know who is going to win here. Why they’re back, I have no idea, but the Trios belts were created for them and this is when they take them back unless common sense prevails. Oh wait, it’s AEW. No chance of that happening.
Winners and NEW AEW Trios Champions: The Elite
And there you go with another set of PPV predictions in the books. I may crack on AEW from time to time, but this is a stacked card and should be an excellent show. So how are my predictions? Am I right? Am I wrong? Let me know your thoughts, comments, and predictions, along with any questions you may have. It is much appreciated. And with that, it’s time to wrap this up. Take care and be good, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
