I am procrastinating on a trip to Walmart. Do you blame me? So what needs to be done? How about an edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A? That sounds good to me. Let’s do this.
The Living Legend Bruno Sammartino passed away 5 years ago today. What are five fantasy dream matches with Bruno that you would have liked to see?
Five fantasy matches for Bruno? How about Bruno, in his prime, against Brock Lesnar? Bruno versus Jerry “The King” Lawler would be fun. Did Bruno ever wrestle either Bob Backlund or Hulk Hogan? Either of those, especially in Madison Square Garden, would be off the charts. And the final one? Just imagine Bruno versus Mr. McMahon. It would be epic.
An AEW brand split??? Is that a legit thing or just rumored internet talk? I thought that’s what ROH was for.
From what I understand, ROH is considered separate from AEW so there are, allegedly, two companies just under the same umbrella. The brand split I keep hearing about is The Elite and their friends do Dynamite while Punk and his friends work on Saturdays on the new show. And Rampage/Dark gets to see a mixture of talent. No, it doesn’t make sense to me either. Tony needs to step up and either everyone quits the bickering and acts professional or else they get a pink slip and the boot. AEW is just a sad mess right now and there are no signs that it will be getting any better anytime soon.
Has Dominik surpassed MJF as a heel character?
Both men have done excellent jobs in getting over and getting heat from the fans, but their styles and methods are so different, I can’t honestly say that one or the other is better. Let’s just say that both are excellent at what they do.
Do you think Britt Baker is a pillar of AEW?
I don’t think she’s all that good and she’s gotten worse as time has gone on instead of better, but she’s one of the AEW originals and one of the women chosen from the beginning by Tony Khan to build a Women’s Division around. So yes, she would be one of the pillars.
Opinion on Mil Mascaras?
He was ahead of his time, a great entertainer, and is considered a legend in Mexico. He’s a great character and a real-life superhero in many ways. From many people’s memories and stories though, he’s also a bit of an egomaniac and a prick. But that being said, you can’t make a list of the top wrestlers of all time for the 70s without his name being on the list.
Power & Glory (Hercules Hernandez & Paul Roma) versus Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis). Who wins?
Gable and Otis would win. And Hercules and Roma would be told to SHOOOSH!
What is your Mt. Rushmore of Heels?
Col. DeBeers, William Regal, Hollywood Hogan, and Mr. McMahon.
How would you handle CM Punk’s return to AEW?
Bring him back in Chicago, let him do a Punk-Classic promo on anything and everything, and then issue a challenge against The Elite for Punk versus any of them at All In. Then let The Elite come out and confront Punk, but before it gets physical, have FTR come out to have Punk’s back. Then make it a moment by Tony Khan coming out and declaring that no one can touch anyone else or they’ll be fired, but then making a match. It’s a six-man event with The Elite versus CM Punk & FTR at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. And there you go.
There seems to be a movement happening to fire Dax Harwood of FTR due to comments he’s made on his Podcast. Should Tony Khan fire FTR from AEW?
Tony just re-signed FTR to a four-year deal so I seriously doubt that he’s planning on firing anyone. And I haven’t read the details yet, but as I clicked online today, I noticed that Dax is ending his podcast, so I guess that nips that problem in the bud as well. People are getting mad at Dax for his comments, but don’t say a word when Jericho gets personal with his comments on his podcast. Just hypocrisy and I guess Dax was hurting too many feelings with the truth, especially Uncle Dave’s.
Goldberg says that Vince and the WWE promised him a retirement match and then failed to deliver. Thoughts?
I think Vince McMahon has far more than enough going on right now with the sale to Endeavor than to worry about an older wrestler who is not under contract to WWE and if he’s getting a retirement match or not. When Vince allegedly made that promise, I’m sure that he intended to follow through, but since Goldberg’s last match with WWE, Vince has retired, came back, and worked out a deal to sell the company and make billions of dollars, plus HHH has taken control of WWE Creative. Once things have settled down, I’m sure that Triple H would be glad to sit down and talk to Goldberg about doing business and maybe a last match, but right now, I think the current product takes priority.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you might have are welcome and appreciated. Let me know what’s on your mind. And with that, it’s time to wrap this up and do what I’ve been dreading all day. I’m going to Walmart. Take care, be well, and wish me luck. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
