It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s go.
My question is regarding the upcoming soft AEW roster split between Collision/Dynamite. Should they officially draft people to each show, plus include real sports aspects like salary caps/bandings to make it interesting? It would bring more storyline potential!
If they get too fancy with the details of the brand split, the fans will go nuts and accuse them of trying to copy WWE and their entire “Draft” process. That would be true, but that’s not a big deal. What it would also do is give attention to the backstage politics and the reason that there is even a split roster in the first place. Too many details and explanations don’t work well in wrestling. Just split the roster as needed and save the explanations for later down the road.
Since Smackdown currently has both women’s champions, do you think we’ll see Iyo Sky defeat Bianca Belair or will they just do the silly belt swap thing?
It’s only Sunday as I write this and the draft isn’t over yet so let’s wait and see if Rhea and the Judgement Day go to RAW on Monday night before we start making decisions about the fate of the Women’s Championship titles. And as for the belts, instead of a belt swap, how about new title belts for both ladies instead? Works for me.
If you book a PPV with any superstars past or present what top 5 matches would you pick?
I don’t see any limitations listed as to who I can use so let’s go for a dream match card from hell. Dusty Rhodes versus Hulk Hogan. Harley Race versus Brock Lesnar. Steamboat & Youngblood versus The Midnight Express versus The Usos versus The Hart Foundation in a Fatal 4-Way. Undertaker & Kane versus The Anderson Brothers, Ole & Gene. And finally, Ivory, Victoria & Trish Stratus versus Asuka, Rhea Ripley & Charlotte Flair.
How would you feel if Xavier Woods won the World heavyweight championship? He would be a great babyface for a heel to cash in on.
I would love to see Xavier as the World Champion. He’s long been to me the most talented and over of the New Day trio, and he has the potential to be a great singles champion. He’s very underrated and it would be a great surprise for the fans. Xavier as the new World Champion? That works for me.
Who are your early calls for Money in the Bank winners? I’m going with LA Knight and Chelsea Green.
Knight and Green would both work well and be excellent choices to win the Money In The Bank contracts, especially Green. Let’s hope that Triple H thinks the same way.
Are there any current wrestlers on the WWE roster that you think would benefit from transitioning into a manager role?
Sami Zayn has a great look to be a manager one day. Bray Wyatt as a manager/cult leader works better for me than seeing Bray as a wrestler. Bayley would be excellent in a managerial role as well.
With Cody and Roman on different shows and HHH saying the heavyweight title is going to RAW…assuming Cody won’t be the guy to dethrone Roman, who does?
If Cody isn’t the man who takes out Roman, I’m thinking that Baron Corbin or Jey Uso would both be excellent choices to come from out of nowhere to take down the Tribal Chief. Also, a returning Matt Cardona would be cool to see him show up and take out Roman.
With the success of MJF’s majestic gherkin, which wrestler will bring out the next food product? Sting’s sauerkraut or Jade’s jam?
MJF came out on a Media Scrum eating pickles and now, he’s selling pickles. That’s pretty awesome. So who’s next? How about The Acclaimed endorsing Cherry Juice, Carlito endorsing apples, or The Gunn Club, aka The Ass Boys, talking about diapers or ass cream.
Do you think the world is going to get a CM Punk vs Goldberg match in 2023?
Lord, let’s hope not. That would not be a good match.
Do you think having 7 hours of AEW is too much television? Love Dynamite but I hardly have time to watch Rampage let alone another 2-hour show.
Just watching any AEW with the sloppy wrestling and terrible booking of Tony Khan is a chore, and seven hours a week, that’s a lot to deal with. If AEW told stories and had wrestling that made sense, more TV would be a great thing, but as AEW is right now, it’s too much. Way too much.
What involvement, if any, do you see ROH potentially having on the All In show at Wembley?
If AEW and Tony Khan want the Wembley Stadium show to work and be a huge success, it’s going to have to be all hands on deck to put together the best show possible. And yes, that would include the stars of ROH as well.
Who do you think Austin Theory should lose the US title to? And When?
Right off the top of my head, how about Damien Priest? It would turn Theory into a face and seeing him work against The Judgement Day would make for some fun and interesting moments. Or maybe Riddle? I’d like to see Matt Riddle wearing some singles gold. As for when it should happen, when the time is right, and not a second before then.
Do you see Pappa H ever reaching a point where he says “f**k it” and he resigns and cashes out and starts his promotion?
It may happen at some point, but I don’t think it will be anytime soon. From what I understand, Triple H is getting a 5-million dollar signing bonus with the WWE merger to Endeavor so he’s not going to up and leave without good reason. If things change over the next few years, maybe HHH will pull a Billy Corgan and buy out an old territory and rebuild it as his promotion. He has the talent and contacts to do so and it would make for some interesting times ahead, but it’s not going to happen anytime soon.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
