Wrestling Fact or Fiction – October 3, 2017

Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction
October 3, 2017

Usually, I try to have this up on Sunday and now it’s Tuesday. I guess I’m getting slack. Oh well, it happens sometimes, but here you go, better late than never. It’s time for a little “Fact or Fiction” about the King of Sports. The questions come from my friends at 411mania.com/wrestling. And the rest is all me. No time for chit chat. Let’s do this…

1. Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar match (match, not result) was disappointing.

FACT: It was too short and too much by the numbers and didn’t come across as special or even particularly good really. And that finish? We’ve seen Braun walk out of a wrecked ambulance and destroy Roman Reigns repeatedly, yet it only took one F-5 to put him away for the pin? They (the WWE) had a chance to make an instant classic, but instead it was a run-of-the-mill bleh match at best. These guys need to have a rematch and pull out all of the stops to get this stinker out of everyone’s mind. They’re capable of so much more then they showed in this match. They just need to get out there and prove it.

2. You’re excited for a possible Shield vs. Miztourage match.

FACT: Anything that gives Axel and Bo some TV time and some kind of push is good for me and as much as I don’t particularly care for any of the Shield guys as individual wrestlers, a reunion, be it against Miz and the Miztourage or as they’re seeming to go now, against Miz, Cesaro and Sheamus, works for me and could be mighty fun and interesting. Actually, it doesn’t matter who Miz partners with against the Shield, if he’s there, then so will be the Miztourage and five against three looks like mighty good odds for Miz and friends to me.

3. WWE is devaluing the 205 Live product by constantly saying that “Enzo was dumped there” & that “the other guys aren’t stars.”

FICTION: Maybe it isn’t the best thing to say, but it’s the truth and the truth is always welcome. It’s showing though that WWE realizes that there were and are perception problems with the stars of 205 Live and the Cruiserweight Division and they’re acknowledging it and trying to do something about it.

4. Bringing Bayley back, only for her to be the one to take the pin at No Mercy, was poor booking.

FICTION: Bringing Bayley back and throwing here into the title match with the rest of the women when she didn’t earn it and there was really no reason for it counts as the bad booking for me. Her taking the pin doesn’t matter to me one way or the other. Someone had to do it and she’s just as good to take it as anyone else.

5. Monday’s closing angle involving Enzo, Neville and the 205 roster was a great piece of business.

FACT: It truly was. Enzo, if nothing else, can generate heat and get the people involved in almost any angle. And this whole “Enzo versus everyone” story is exciting and different and may be just the thing to get people actually watching 205 Live for a chance. Enzo’s mouth and this angle can bring the fans in and the great wrestling can hopefully keep them coming back. It was great TV and I did really enjoy watching it.

6. What is your excitement level for Paige’s WWE return?

Probably an 8 out of 10. Everyone is going to be watching closely to see what happens when Paige returns to the main roster. The WWE loves a good redemption story and Paige has fallen just about as far as a woman can, so now she can work and build her way back to where she was before and beyond. She’s a good worker and has a unique look and this could be really, really big in getting her over like never before. And with Asuka coming to the main roster, she and Paige share the distinction of being the only two women to vacate the NXT Women’s Championship to come to the main roster. That sounds like a potential main event match at a big show waiting to happen. If Paige can get back in form and more importantly stay away from the bad influences (Alberto Del Rio), she could be bigger and better than ever when she returns to the main roster ring. I hope she’s able to do it and get back on track. I really do.

And there you go with the weekly dose of “Wrestling Fact Or Fiction” in the books. Comments and questions are welcome and appreciated. Thank you for reading. And now, until the next time, I’m down and gone. Have a great night.
