Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE Elimination Chamber 2018
Thoughts & Predictions
February 23, 2018
Coming up this Sunday night from Sin City USA, it’s the WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event. It’s RAW exclusive, the last RAW only big time event for the near future. And it looks like a barn burner stacked show, all jacked up and ready to go. Let’s take a look at the matches and do that big time prediction thing, shall we? Five matches and a big contract signing. Before I get to playing Sister Cleo, let me say once more Congratulations to the thus far announced soon to be members of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2018, Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, Ivory and (big surprise) Jeff Jarrett. In the words of the previously mentioned Goldberg, “Who’s next?”. That, we’ll learn over the course of the next few weeks. As for now, let’s look at the show on Sunday and try to things things figured out on the “Road to Wrestlemania”. Right now, all roads lead to the Elimination Chamber. Let’s do this…
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Braun Strowman vs. Elias vs. John Cena inside the Elimination Chamber.
This is the first ever 7-man Elimination Chamber match with the winner to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania. I know that everyone expects Roman to be the man who ends up facing the “Beast”, but will he? Let’s go through the names and eliminate a few names that we know won’t be winning. Cena is out since he seems to be penciled in against Taker so that’s one down. I’m not really looking at too big a chance for Elias or Miz either. I think Miz will have a big Wrestlemania moment, but it will be defending the IC title and not trying to win the Universal one. I don’t think it will be Seth either. I think we’ll see Seth in some other stuff with Kurt Angle possibly. So that leaves Roman, Finn and Braun. Braun is so over, that makes the most sense and could be awesome. Finn is looking good, but I think we might have a little “Balor Club” business come up and take his attention at the big event. And there’s still Roman. Roman or Braun? Tough call, but it’ll end up being a Triple-threat at Mania with these three guys anyhow in the end. Watch and see. As for this match, I think at the end of the night, everyone will stand up and be talking about “these hands”, which I don’t get. Stupid tagline for the man-beast monster.
Winner: Braun Strowman
Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Mickie James vs. Sonya Deville vs. Mandy Rose vs. Alexa Bliss for the Women’s Championship inside the Elimination Chamber.
The first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match with Alexa being forced to defend her title against five other women and the chance to go to Wrestlemania as the RAW Women’s Champion. I would love to see Alexa manage to keep her title and go the the big show as the Champ, but I don’t think so. So let’s figure out who will. Sonya and Mandy are both definitely out. These past few weeks have really exposed a lot of their inexperience during their matches on RAW and neither are really what one can consider “Championship ready”. Bayley looks great right now and I’m kind of expecting a heel turn of sorts on Sasha or maybe it’s a heel turn by Sasha on Bayley. Either way, I think they will end up taking each other out of the picture by the end of the match. And that leaves Mickie James, the former 6-time Divas Champ. Mickie looks great and the WWE loves historical moments so I’ll just say that at the end of the first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match, we have a new record setting 7-time Women’s Champion as well.
Winner and NEW WWE RAW Women’s Champion: Mickie James
Asuka vs. Nia Jax.
The undefeated Asuka takes on the most recently dominant female in WWE ring these days, Nia Jax. And if Nia wins, she becomes part of the match for the Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania. Regardless of who wins here, we don’t know which championship Asuka has decided to go after, but probably will find that out on Monday night. Let me make one thing perfectly clear here that Asuka will not be pinned or submit. That “streak” is way too valuable to throw away this Sunday night. So the question isn’t will Asuka be doing the J.O.B. because she’s not. The real question is how will the WWE find a way to add Nia to the Wrestlemania match without having her actually beat Asuka. Look for a total and crazy brawl that gives a whole new meaning to the term “CATFIGHT”, but more brutal, athletic and smash-mouth than anything WWE and especially the women have done in a long time. I expect that we’ll see a screwy kind of messed up finish where Asuka either gets disqualified or maybe even counted out, thus losing the match, but keeping the streak intact. I think we’ll do a DQ.
Winner by DQ: Nia Jax
Ronda Rousey signs her WWE contract in the ring.
Nothing will happen here. Ronda will come to the ring, talk to HHH, Stephanie and Kurt Angle and sign the contract. No issues or drama. Just a simple signing. Yeah, right. I think we’ll see the situation from Wrestlemania a couple of years ago between Ronda & The Rock and HHH and Steph come up. I think we’ll see Stephanie throw out some ego and try to establish herself as the boss and WWE is “her ring”. Ronda might beg to differ and we set the seeds for a tag match at this year’s Wrestlemania with Ronda and a partner (maybe Rock, maybe Kurt Angle, maybe someone else) versus HHH and Steph. It all begins here and there you go…
RAW Tag Team Titles: The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) versus Titus Worldwide (Titus O’Neill & Apollo)
For some reason, I can’t see Titus Worldwide bringing home the gold this Sunday night. They’re hot right now and winning matches and looking great and all of that is well and good, but there’s what I call the “Titus effect” taking place in that Titus and partner of choice (Darren Young, Heath Slater, Apollo) always get a little push every so often and then it falters through and and they get shunted back into limbo oblivion again. It’ll be a good match and everyone will bust their asses and work the best match possible and the big time streak that Titus Worldwide has going on, it all ends. A great match and plenty of near-falls and in the end, Cesaro and Sheamus set the bar one more time with another win and keeping the title.
Winners and STILL WWE RAW Tag Team Champions: Sheamus & Cesaro – The Bar
Matt Hardy versus Bray Wyatt
I’m ready for this feud to be DELETED! Look for Brother Nero to return and for things to start getting crazy. And “Woken Matt” takes home the win.
Winner: Matt Hardy
And there you go, my friends. Will it all go down Sunday as I’ve predicted or am I way off base and crazy? Probably a little of both. Let me know what you think and what your predictions are for this wild and crazy night. I want to know. And now, I’m going to close this up and call it a night. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time. Love you – mean it.
