Tossing Salt Presents:
Opposing Views
March 7, 2018

I’m so far behind on everything, it just isn’t funny. Good thing that I have an easy-going and cool boss, right? This is “Opposing Views”, where once a week, or at least that’s how it should be, I get all political and shit. The questions come from the Facebook page of a group called “Opposing Views” (how original) and even though they claim to be without an agenda, they’re as left wing as a group can get. They hate Trump and Republicans (but then again, doesn’t everyone these days? It’s what the “cool kids” are doing.) They have some pretty good questions though and once a week (more or less), I get to answer these questions and give my opinions, as only a emo-homo-redneck Libertarian from the south can do. So let’s get right to it, shall we? And away we go.

A Christian-owned Colorado bakery is under fire for refusing to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. Now, their case is being decided in the Supreme Court. What do you think: Do businesses have the right to refuse service to people they disagree with?

I think that every business should have the right to refuse service to anyone if there is a valid reason. And if someone doesn’t like the standards by which a business owner operates, then don’t go there. Protest by not spending money and everything will work itself out in the end. In this particular case, the bakery was targeted by a gay couple wanting a wedding cake. The bakery didn’t want to appear to condone the same-sex marriage and didn’t make the cake and instead of doing what common sense people would do and go to another bakery and give their money to someone who agrees with them, the couple got all butt hurt and cried to the local authorities. The bakery is refusing to back down and it’s been going on since then. I ask, would someone go into a Jewish bakery and ask them to make a “Nazi cake”? How about going into a black-owned bakery and asking to order a cake for the upcoming Klan rally? The answer is no and this is the same situation. I personally, if I was the bakery, would have made the cake, took the money and business and moved on. And if I was the couple, if this bakery said they’re not comfortable making my wedding cake, I’d take my business to someone who is and move on. It’s a set-up and people just get too damn offended and butt-hurt these days over the stupidest stuff. The business can refuse service to whoever they want. That’s the way it is and the way it should be. ‘Nuff said.

Trump says it’s time to put an end to people mooching off the welfare system.

How can anyone disagree with this? If someone is leeching off the system and can work, can go to school, etc., but would rather sit on their ass and collect a check, that needs to be halted and put a stop to as quickly as possible. The welfare system was made to be a temporary helping hand and to provide aid to those who need it until they can get back on their feet and was not meant to be a lifestyle. People take advantage and that needs to be halted and the people who are screwing the taxpayers and system need to be cut off, criminally charged and kicked to the curb.

House Republicans just launched a new investigation into the Obama Administration’s Uranium One deal. Do you support that?

Laws were allegedly broken and people did things for personal gain that has weakened our nation. Of course they need to be investigated and if crimes have been committed, the people in power at the time and the people responsible need to be charged and punished.

Do you think Trump is the worst president of the last 100 years?

In a century that includes Presidents like Calvin Coolidge, Warren Harding, JFK (the real deal and not the hype), Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, President Trump doesn’t even come close.

In a new Fox News poll, just 36% of Americans said they want Trump to be re-elected in 2020. Will you be voting for a new president in the next election?

I don’t know who I’ll be voting for until I see who the candidates are, look at their positions and track records and evaluate everything. But if Trump does run again and the Democrats select one of their current “leaders” as the opposition, I’ll most likely vote for Trump.

Joe Biden says Michelle Obama “was the finest first lady in history.” Do you agree with him?

“Uncle Joe” also gropes women and told a man in a wheelchair to “stand up”.  I think Joe Biden needs to go take his meds and be quiet. Finest in history? When there are people like Barbara Bush, Rosalyn Carter, Mamie Eisenhower, Laura Bush, Jackie Kennedy, etc in the mix, Michelle falls somewhere in the middle. We have had some suck-ass Presidents, but I won’t hold their husbands against them. We’ve had some classy and decent First Ladies.

An Alabama lawmaker wants mandatory castration for child sex offenders. Fair punishment?

Most sex offenses are not about sex, but about power and control. This is one of those solutions that sounds good on paper, but in actual implementation, it wouldn’t work on a wide scale. Maybe on a case-by-case determination, it could be one of the options, but in the big picture, it’s a one-size-fits-all punishment that could never work and wouldn’t get past the Constitutionality argument anyways.

A judge just ruled that the Confederate flag will go back up in a South Carolina courthouse. Do you think states have the right to fly the flag on public land?

If the state governments and the people of that state agree with flying the flag, then fly the flag. They definitely have the right.

People on welfare have to take a drug test to receive taxpayer funds. Does that mean Congress should be drug tested too?

Everyone on welfare should be drug tested regularly and everyone getting a government paycheck, be it as a member of an office or an elected official, from the Mayor to the City Council to the Congress to the President of the United States, should also have to submit to drug testing as well. And if they fail, a warning the first time. And the second failure, they get the boot. No questions asked and end of story. No exceptions.

Hillary Clinton is one of the most resilient political leaders in recent history. Do you admire her?

I think she’s a lying, two-faced piece of human garbage with no soul.

Do you hope Mike Pence runs for president after Trump’s time in office ends?

Not really. Pence is okay I guess, but I would prefer to look at some other options first before voting Pence into the office of the Presidency. He’s just not my cup of tea.

And there you go. We’re through here and now I have to go get ready for work. Time to go sell that liquor. Questions, comments and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. Let me know how crazy and ridiculous I sound and am. Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you on the flip side. Take care.
