Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE Changes, Rousey and More
June 3, 2018
Are you ready to grapple with a little wresting action this morning? It’s time to do some of that infamous wrestling Q&A stuff that we like to do around here. Right now, I’m playing catch up with a few questions sent to me by my old friend Carl. These have been sitting in my inbox at Yahoo and I’ve been procrastinating as I’ve often prone to do. Well, that ends now as we take care of bid’ness. Let’s do this…
If you had the authority to make five changes to WWE, what would they be?
The five things that immediately come to mind for me are as follows: 1. Institute a television title to be defended on both brands, Raw and Smackdown, where the old rule of a “10-minute time limit” is thrown in and the champ has to be on both shows, defending that title every week. It’d be a great way to showcase one of the wrestlers against a variety of opponents and for the use of old tactics like stalling, story-telling, etc to be used more often and effectively. And it’d be a great way to give the undercard guys a chance to have their moments and to shine a bit. 2. I’d bring back managers for those wrestlers who aren’t good talkers and need that extra rub. 3. I’d do a flashback segment every so often with a historical match being presented on RAW or Smackdown. It’s a great way to plug The Network, plus it’d give the older fans like myself a chance to get a little nostalgia while giving a history lesson tothe newer fans. 4. I love tournaments so I’d have more tournaments, complete with brackets and analysis. 5. Bring back CM Punk and AJ Lee for one more run and let the chips fall where they may.
After she finishes her program with Nia Jax, who would you like to see Ronda Rousey fight next?
I’d love to see Ronda do a short program with Alicia Fox. Remember. it was an argument with Rousey’s husband that got Alicia sent home during Wrestlemania week from the WWE and I’d play on that. Crazy Alicia making Ronda miserable and playing mind games before finally getting caught and forced to tap out. That would be golden.
Is WWE too scripted?
All the promos sound alike and unrealistic so my answer would be a definite yes. Better to use bullet points and let the talents find their way in the promo department. Those that can do this will deliver and those that can’t, use a manager or spokesperson. It makes things more realistic and interesting and the characters better because it’s the person actually doing the talking and not just reading off of cue cards.
What former WWE stars would you like to see make a return?
Carlito, Chris Masters, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Victoria (Lisa Marie Varon) are the names that immediately pop into my head when I hear this question. And of course, Cody when he’s ready.
What current WWE stars would you like to see leave the company?
There really isn’t anyone on the current roster that I totally hate, but if Dean Ambrose, Byron Saxton, Sasha Banks, Bobby Lashley, Baron Corbin and Michael Cole were to all suddenly leave the company and move to a commune together in Waco, Texas, I probably wouldn’t shed any tears or be too upset about it.
And there you go. Comments, thoughts and especially questions for future Q&A’s are welcome and appreciated. Thank you for reading. And until the next time, take care and stay safe.
