WWE Money In The Bank
Thoughts & Predictions
June 16, 2018
Coming up on Sunday night, live from Chicago, is the WWE pay-per-view broadcast Money In The Bank. It’s been six weeks since WWE Backlash and the WWE has really loaded up this card from top to bottom. It should be one helluva show from bell to bell and I am actually excited and jacked up for this event. The show starts at 7:00pm and will be airing live on the WWE Network. I’ve heard talk that WWE wants to promote this show as one of the “Big 5” events of the year which would explain why there is a NXT Takeover: Chicago event the night before. Anyhow, let’s break out the Sister Cleo outfit and the crystal ball and get ready to do some predictions. There are 10 matches announced for the show, plus there was one match announced earlier that isn’t be advertised as of yet, but I expect we’ll see it added sometime at the last minute. That match I speak of is the Hardy / Wyatt versus B-Team match for the RAW Tag Team Titles. I guess WWE forgot about it in the excitement and build towards MITB, but I didn’t forget. I never forget about Bo and Axel. I bo-lieve. And now, let’s get to it, shall we? And away we go…
Raw Tag Team Championship: Deleter Of Worlds (Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy) (c) vs The B-Team (Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel)
After the B-Team of Dallas and Axel won the Tag Team Battle Royal on RAW, they were scheduled to face Bray and The Woken One at MITB for the Tag Team titles, but in every mention of the event and every prediction column I’ve seen so far, this match has been DELETED and is not mentioned at all. I guess it’s a big oversight and this will be corrected sometime between now and Sunday night and that will definitely be WONDERFUL! I love seeing Axel and Bo get a little respect for a change and would love to see them capture the tag team titles, but at the same time, I’m enjoying the Matt Hardy / Bray Wyatt team. So what happens here? Will Sister Abigail come back and have Bray turn on Matt, thus forming a new Wyatt Family with Bo (his brother) and Axel? Will The B-Team be DELETED and then reborn and WOKEN? I just hope that this is the start of a long and enjoyable angle between these four very talented men. I want Axel and Bo to win the titles, but it won’t happen here. I think that we’ll have an excellent match that will surprise everyone and then in the end, Matt and Bray manage to score a win and keep the titles, but just barely.
Winners and STILL RAW Tag Team Champions: The Deleter of Worlds (Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy)
SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Bludgeon Brothers (Harper & Rowan) (c) vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows (Kickoff Show)
This should be another fun and entertaining match to see, but does anyone really either care about either team at this point? The tag team scene on Smackdown is pretty much ignored and not given any kind of love and attention by the WWE. In days gone by, this could have been a major match and really mean something, but now, it’s just filler between the Kickoff show spots. I hope that both teams bring their A-Game and try to steal the show. It’s too early to take the titles off of Harper and Rowan if they’re to mean anything to anyone (they don’t). I think we’ll see Luke and Erick win and retain their belts after a fast and furious brawl.
Winners and STILL Smackdown Tag Team Champions: The Bludgeon Brothers, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan
Bobby Lashley vs. Sami Zayn
I am so tired of Lashley already and this whole story between he and Zayn has been beyond boring and / or stupid as hell. I want to see Zayn win this one and then have Lashley go off to fight someone in UFC or something. It won’t happen though and he’s one of the “favorites” of WWE management so he’ll get a push, a big win, etc. Look for Sami to do the major J.O.B.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass
This is another match I had some high hopes for, but as it’s developed, my interest seems to have vanished. Cass is a good talent with a lot of potential, but he’s just not there yet. I’m hoping that he ends up alligned with Miz to help him develop and grow as a character, much like Alex Riley, Damien Sandow and The Miztourage did. Matter of fact, I’ll call it now. Miz comes out and causes some kind of distraction. Cass takes advantage and manages to score the win over Bryan. And then later in the night, will Cass return the favor and give Miz a hand in the Ladder Match? We’ll see.
Winner: Big Cass
Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal
As much as I like Jinder, this one isn’t even worth talking about. It’ll be a good fight and both men will get their moments, but at the end of the night, look for a Superman punch and spear and for the “Big Dog” to reclaim his yard with a big victory and win.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Intercontinental Championship: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Elias
I would love to see Elias win. I want Elias to win. Rollins is so hot right now though, it’d be a bad move to take the title off of him unless he’s moving into a program with Brock or whoever the Universal Champion may be. WWE may stand for Walk With Elias, but the IC title stays with Seth Rollins, at least for this night anyways.
Winner and STILL Intercontintental Champion
SmackDown Women’s Championship: Carmella (c) vs. Asuka
Carmella has done an excellent job since becoming the Smackdown Women’s Champion and is really growing into her character. I don’t want to see her lose the title just yet, but against Asuka, I definitely can’t see Asuka losing and being beat by Carmella either. So this leaves one of two scenarios. Either we’ll see Asuka lock Carmella in the Asuka lock and refuse to break the hold, thus getting DQ’ed or else we’ll see the (spoiler) return of James Ellsworth, who win get involved in the match, cause Carmella to be DQ’ed and end up being put in the Asuka lock and forced to tap out by Asuka himself. I’ll go with ending #2.
Winner by DQ: Asuka (Carmella retains the Smackdown Women’s Championship)
Women’s Money in the Bank: Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Lana vs. Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Ember Moon vs. Natalya
I covered this one in a “Wrestling Fact or Fiction” piece that I wrote earlier this week and I stand by that prediction. Look for Lana, with the aid of Aiden English, to manage to somehow climb that ladder and win. Yes, the “Ravishing Russian” will be the next “Miss Money In The Bank”. Happy Rusev Day! You’re welcome.
Men’s Money in the Bank: Braun Strowman vs. Finn Balor vs. Bobby Roode vs. Kevin Owens vs. The Miz vs. Samoa Joe vs. Rusev vs. New Day Member
I also covered thin one in the “Fact or Fiction” piece. It won’t be a “good guy” that wins because good guys as sneaky MITB contract holders tend to suck majorly. Owens doesn’t need it and neither does Samoa Joe. I want Rusev to win, but he won’t either. It’s between Miz, which would be AWESOME and the yet-to-be announced New Day participant. I think that member will be Big E. I’d rather see Miz, with new associate Big Cass, win that contract, but the possibilities and stories that having one of the New Day win, are endless. I think WWE would be dumb not to go in this direction because the stories write themselves and New Day has gotten stale and needs something to juice things up.
Winner: The New Day Member (Big E)
Raw Women’s Championship: Nia Jax (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
Whatever they do, they can not put the title on Ronda yet. It would make for great publicity and I get that, but much like the Universal Title and Brock, it would pretty much kill the title and make it worthless. Look for Ronda’s temper to flare out of control and have her refuse to break the armlock, thus getting DQ’ed by the referee. Thus Ronda still looks incredibly strong and dangerous, but Nia keeps her title and can move on to someone else for a while.
Winner by DQ: Nia Jax (Nia retains her title).
WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (Last Man Standing)
If the WWE does not put the belt on Shinsuke on Sunday night, then what was the point of the past several months? AJ doesn’t need the title and Shinsuke either needs to win it or look like a choker who can come close, but not get the job done. He needs to get the job done.
Winner and NEW WWE Champion: Shinsuke Nakamura
And I guess that’s all of the matches covered. I am definitely looking forward to this show on Sunday night. WWE has really stacked the card and I think it will most definitely deliver. So what do you think of my predictions? Am I right or just plain crazy? What are your thoughts and predictions for this show? Let me know what you think. And now, I’m down and gone. Until the next time my friends, stay safe and support your local Independent wrestling events. I loves ya!
