Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
June 30, 2018
Welcome to the weekend and another edition of that Fact or Fiction thing, the music edition. As per the usual, the questions and statements come from my good friends over at 411mania.com/music. I’ve got the answers and opinions that follow. And Miley has no boobs. Let’s do this…
1. You don’t see the accusations against Childish Gambino going anywhere.
FACT: There are people talking about comparisons and inspiration and all of that stuff, but Jase Harley doesn’t seem upset that Danny Glover may have been motivated by his music and has even spoke out in defense of Glover and his music. This is just talk and people getting their panties in a bunch over nothing. It will fade away to nothing just as soon as the next “scandal” breaks.
2. The Grammys new rules are good for the future of the awards.
FACT: The folks at the Grammy’s have decided to expand the numbers so more people can be nominated for their awards and have a shot. Sounds good to me.
3. Paramore’s “Caught in the Middle” video was entertaining.
FACT: I went, I watched and it didn’t suck. I actually smiled a little bit, felt my body moving a bit to the sound and even felt a moment of nostalgia. No complaints here.
4. Vinnie Paul is easily one of the greatest heavy metal drummers of all time.
FACT: Nothing to really say here but the dude rocked. Damn good at what he did and one of the best? Most definitely.
5. Gorillaz and Snoop Dogg delivered a solid track with “Hollywood.”
FACT: Solid is a good way to describe it. I’m hit or miss with Gorillaz and Snoop pretty much just annoys the hell out of me, but the track was good and I enjoyed it as I watched it on YouTube this lovely morning. It’s not great and probably not something I’d go out of my way to purchase or listen to regularly, but it’s definitely not bad either. I’m sure that fans of Gorillaz and Snoopy Dogg Dogg will like it.
6. You’re interested in the upcoming new album from Coheed and Cambria.
FICTION: Who? Sounds like a bad law firm from Columbia or maybe a couple of wine makers. I’m not familiar with this pair and my quick trip to YouTube didn’t really help too much either. I did like the song “Welcome Home”. It’s not too bad. But enough to make me excited about these folks and their new album? Not really.
And there you go. Sorry it’s so short, but so is my on again / off again FWB, Danny, and he’s still fun (most of the time). Thank you for reading. And now, I have to go to work. Comments, thoughts and any questions are welcome and appeciated. Until the next time, take care.
