Tossing Salt Presents:
Mr. Miyagi, Thanksgiving, Dream Jobs and More…
October 10, 2018
Some call it Facebook Q&A since most of the questions come from Facebook. Some call it “ain’t none of yo’ damn business” since some of these questions asked are a bit on the nosy side. Me, I just call it “5 Questions!”. Let’s do this…
Who was your own personal Mr. Miyagi (Karate Kid)?
Well, I never had an elderly Japanese man teach me how to trim baby trees and wax cars, but there have been people in my life who served as role models and examples and helped me to learn and become the man I am today. One would be my first long term boss man, Jimmy Lee, who was the owner of Convenient Food Mart. Jimmy helped me learn about personal responsibility, customer service and the skills needed to work with people for the past thirty-plus years. A man named Brad Casey also stands out because he gave me my first break at writing for his website, The Wrestling Informer.net. It was about finding my style, meeting deadlines, being responsible and so much more. Many others have helped me over the years in so many ways, but those two men stand out rather prominently.
Do you like green eggs & ham?
I do not like them, Sam I am. I do not like them in a box. I do not like them with a fox. I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam I am. Actually, I’m lying here. I like ’em fine. Yummy stuff!
You’re cooking Thanksgiving dinner. What do you prepare?
I love to cook and Thanksgiving Dinner is my excuse to just cut loose and go crazy with the cooking stuff. There will be Turkey for sure and homemade stuffing. (Ma makes that and also usually makes potato salad too.) I’ll do baked beans, deviled eggs, usually a green bean or tater tot casserole. I’ll either get pre-made dinner rolls or make corn bread, depending upon my time and mood. And a pecan pie to round things out. There have been, in the past, egg rolls, corn on the cob and mashed potatoes too, but I’ve cut back a little bit since I don’t have as many people to feed anymore. I love to cook though and once I get on a roll, anything goes.
What is your dream job?
Being a freelance writer, working on my own site and working with the folks at SMF Cyberspace, BRAD&DERK, PWBTS.com and the folks at the AK Files on occasion as well. Plus doing my volunteer / charity work too. In other words, I’m living my dream jobs, but only part-time. I have my “real job” at the ABC to pay the bills and that’s cool. I like working in retail too and with people, but I just wish that part of my life was optional instead of mandatory.
You’re invited to give a lecture at a College. What would the topic be about?
Pro Wrestling, Comic Books and How To Be A Gay Man in Trump’s America.
And there you go. Questions, comments and any thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading. Until the next time, take care and I’ll catch you later.
