Wrestling Fact or Fiction
Ambrose, Evolution & More

It’s time to do that Fact or Fiction thing. It’s all about WWE Evolution and it’s the wrestling edition. The statements are from Larry and the fine folks at 411mania.com/wrestling. And I’m providing the answers. Let’s do this…

1. Doing the Dean Ambrose heel turn on Monday’s Raw was the right call.

FACT: It’s been hinted at and we knew it was coming, but when was the only question. By doing it on the same night that Roman made his announcement was such a dastardly and evil action, Ambrose cemented his spot as a top bastard and even those who might want to cheer him will stop and hesitate for a moment first. Throwing the tag title win into the win was a big time curve and makes it even more of a great swerve. Do we have partners now who would rather fight, but have to work together to defend the titles? Do we get new chanmpions and a chance to take the tag titles in a new (B-Team, Revival, etc) direction? This is the first thing that Dean Ambrose has done in quite a while that I like and am interested in seeing more of. And let’s be honest here. The Roman announcement took the air out of the room and they needed something to end the show on a thriller note and with Ambrose laying out Seth, they did exactly that. Well done WWE.

2. Shayna Baszler will lose at Evolution and be called up to the main roster.

FICTION: I think she’s going to win here so that NXT can have a rematch at the NXT Takeover event next month between Baszler and Kairi Sane. These two have great chemistry together and it’s too good a feud to end so quickly. If and when Baszler gets called up to the main roster, it’ll be probably after Wrestlemania when WWE goes into re-set mode.

3. Becky Lynch will defeat Charlotte at WWE Evolution.

FACT: As great as Charlotte is, it’s Becky’s time and it’s way too early to take the belt off of her, even at an event this important and big. Charlotte and Becky will tear the house down and should be the closing match, main eventing and when the smoke clears, Becky should still walk out as the Smackdown Women’s Champion. She deserves to keep that belt.

4. Nia Jax will win the battle royal and title shot at WWE Evolution.

FICTION: With Nia, the bloom is off the rose and no one wants to see her win that Battle Royal. If anything, she’s become more generic and boring and actually to me, it seems as if she’s getting worse in the ring and more sloppy. Give her a feud against Tamina where they can do “big woman brawls” and kick ass on each other. Hell, anything would be better than what she’s doing now. Well, anything except for winning that Battle Royal. Give it to someone who matters like Asuka or go with my for a Rocky like story with Alundra Blayze or one of the other legends not named Trish winning and we get to have a moment. Anyone but Nia really.

5. Ronda Rousey will defeat Nikki Bella at WWE Evolution.

FACT: Nikki may have a few moments with her mind games and the help of her fellow Bella, Brie, but the outcome of this match is pretty cut and dry or should be. When Ronda finally gets hold of Nikki, it’s lock up on the arm and Nikki taps. End of story.

6. What is your excitement level for WWE Evolution?

I’ll go with an 8 out of 10. I’m actually excited for this event. Ivory is back. Molly is back. Madusa is back in the ring after 18 years. Asuka will be winning the Battle Royal. We get to see Ronda beat up the Bellas. I’ve always liked Women’s wrestling going back to the days of Penny Banner, Ann Casey, Bambi, Misty Blue, etc, and to see them with their own show, their own pay-per-view, is a really big deal. The only things that could make this better for me is to have Victoria, WWE Hall of Famer Jackie Moore and NWA Women’s Champion Jazz, along with Cyndi Lauper and Wendi Richter show up and make some cameos. It still can happen. But anyhow, this is a big event and I’m happy for the women of WWE and totally stoked about the event.

And there you go. Thoughts? Questions? Differing opinions? I want to hear from you and tell me all. Thank you for reading. And now, it’s time for breakfast, a shower and then lots and lots of writing. It must be Sunday. Have a great one and I’ll talk at you later. Don’t forget to watch WWE Evolution tonight on the WWE Network and let me know what you think of the show. I’ll catch you later.

Ubuntu!
