WWE TLC 2018 – Thoughts & Predictions…

Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE TLC 2018
Thoughts & Predictions
December 15, 2018

Coming up on Sunday night from the great city of San Jose, CA, it’s WWE TLC, live on pay-per-view and of course, the WWE Network. It’s four hours of mayhem and smash-mouth action as the men and women of WWE do their best Wizard of Oz impressions and break out all the plunder with tables, ladders and chairs (oh my!). And the card is stacked from top to bottom. It’s time to get all jiggy with it and do that psycho, I mean psychic thing, making like Sister Cleo with the predictions. So let’s just jump right into it and get busy.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka in a TLC Match.

I’m expecting this to be the match of the night and should, in my opinion, close out the show. After all, a legit TLC match at the TLC event with three of the top women, no, let’s say “superstars” because these are three of the very best and gender doesn’t matter, going at it tooth and nail. The build here is to get Becky into a program with Ronda and for that, she needs to be free of the restraints of the title, but can’t really have a loss either. So I think we’ll see a title change here and either Asuka will pin Charlotte or Charlotte will pin Asuka, but either way, the belt is coming off “the Man”. Charlotte is their “go-to” and rightfully so, but we’ve seen that before so many times, so let’s switch it up. Asuka pins Charlotte to take the belt while Becky becomes a former Champ without ever losing the title, thus still staying strong.

Winner and NEW Smackdown Women’s Champion: Asuka

Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs match: If Corbin wins, he becomes the permanent Raw General Manager. If Strowman wins, he challenges Brock Lesnar at the 2019 Royal Rumble. If Corbin loses, he will be fired as acting Raw GM.

No one is sure of Braun’s medical condition leading up to Sunday and if he’s cleared to wrestle, but cleared or not, I think he’ll be there and this will be a short and sweet smash and bury for the Monster as he wipes out the General Manager Elect. I expect to see Corbin have his personal referee, Heath Slater, out there and it’ll be great to see, once Braun runs through Corbin, Slater with a big smile on his face, counting one-two-three, thus ending the reign of Corbin. Then we can move on with a new GM, probably Kurt Angle, a feud with Slater versus Corbin for a while and Braun moving on to challenge Brock. This won’t be a match, but will be a slaughter with Braun decimating Corbin.

Winner: Braun Strowman

WWE Champion Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles.

Another possible candidate for Match of the Night, but this one won’t have any surprises. Daniel Bryan is the new Champion and is awesome in this new role as the heel incarnate. Every time I hear him call the fans “fickle”, I get a tingle down my leg. He’s the right guy for the right time and right man to be the Champ right now. AJ Is great, but this is Bryan’s time. Daniel retains.

Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Daniel Bryan

WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax.

I expect that Nia will be stiff and do her best to put on a good match. I expect we’ll see Tamina get involved a few times as well. But this is the age of Rousey and that belt is not changing hands anytime soon. Ronda has a date with “The Man” coming up and Nia is just a bump on the road at this time. Ronda makes Nia tap.

Winner and STILL WWE RAW Women’s Champion: Ronda Rousey

WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose.

This feud already seems to have died and lost it’s fire and needs something big to happen to make things hot again. And what better way to do that, short of having Ambrose run down Seth with a car, than by doing a title switch. This adds fire to the matches between these two and it also frees up Seth to challenge Brock down the road if that’s the direction they decide to go with him. It’ll be a good and fast paced match and these two will try to steal the show, but unless they pull a surprise, no one will care. I think a title change will be that surprise.

Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Dean Ambrose

Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox vs. R Truth and Carmella in the finals of the Mixed Match Challenge.

Of all of the people participating, who would have ever thought that these four would be the finalist in this tournament? I sure didn’t, but I like it. It gives these four talented superstars a chance to get jiggy with it and cut loose and get a spot on a big show, a well deserved spot I might add. While I’d love to see Foxy and Jinder get those #30 spots for the Royal Rumble, I’ve got to go with Truth and Carmella. They’re so good together and great comedy mixed with some good ability in the ring as well. Can’t you imagine Truth coming out as #30 for the Rumble Match, the Women’s Rumble Match and then, when the referee’s point out that it’s the wrong Rumble, saying “My bad!”. And I think we’ll see plenty of dance breaks too. My money is on Carmella and R Truth cause Mella is money and that’s the truth.

MMC Tournament Winners: R Truth & Carmella

Table Match: Natalya vs. Ruby Riott.

While the whole using Jim Neidhart as part of this rivalry has given me the willies, I expect this match will be decent and fun to watch. We’ll probably see lots of involvement from the rest of the Riott Squad and some stiff action both inside and outside of the ring. Natayla should win, but I think that Riott needs to win more. I smell an upset. Look for Natayla to eat table on Sunday night.

Winner: Ruby Riott

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Bar vs. The New Day vs. The Usos

The three best teams on Smackdown and it seems as if they’re the only teams as every match involving tag teams seems to involve at least two of these teams these days. I love the Usos and The Bar as well. I’m New Day’ed out, but they’re still very popular and a hot team. I just wish they’d quit that pancake and Booty O’s crap and be serious. This will be a great match as these three teams have great chemistry and work so well together. And I think that when the smoke clears and the dust settles, we’ll see Sheamus and Cesaro sneak out with the titles firmly in their hands. They’re the champs and will remain so for a while longer.

Winners and STILL Smackdown Tag Team Champions: The Bar

Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio – Chairs match

No one will remember or care about this match a week from now. Hell, I don’t think anyone cares about it now to be honest. I surely don’t. Rey is a midget and has lost several steps from his time a few years ago. Randy is boring as hell, but still in his prime and capable of great matches. They have chairs. The bigger man wins.

Winner: Randy Orton

Drew McIntyre vs Finn Balor.

It’s not the right time to have Drew start losing. That loss against Dolph was a dumb move and I can’t see WWE making that same mistake again. Balor is damn good and I’d love to see him get a major push and maybe even get a run doing the Demon again, but that’ll probably be for the future and not here and now. Drew should win and win strongly.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Elias vs Bobby Lashley – Ladder Match with guitar hanging over the ring.

What has happened to Elias? They started pushing him as a face and that push has fallen off badly. He was so hot and now, he needs to be stuck in the microwave and warmed up. Maybe this match will do that for him and get his back on track. It’s Elias’ match with the whole “guitar” thing so look for Lio Rush to get involved and his efforts will backfire and allow Elias to get the guitar and play a tune on Lashley’s skull. I hope so anyhow.

Winner: Elias

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy vs. Cedric Alexander (Kickoff Show)

This will probably be the fastest paced and most action packed match of the night and no one will see it or care since it’s being buried on the Kickoff Show. Regardless, these guys will give 250% and tear that ring apart with great moves and action. And it’s too soon to take the title off of Murphy, especially at what’s essentially a “B-show”. So look for high flying and major impact moves but in the end, the title stays home with Murphy.

Winner and STILL WWE Cruiserweight Champion: Buddy Murphy

And there you go. My predictions. So what are yours? Thoughts and comments welcome and appreciated. And with that, I’m out of here, my friends. I have to go get ready for work. Have a great one and I’ll catch you later. Take care.
