Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction
Asuka, Nia, TLC and More
December 16, 2018
Are you ready for some fun times with the Fact or Fiction thing? It’s the wrestling edition and as per the usual, the statements and questions come from the outstanding Peeps at 411mania.com/wrestling. The opinions that follow, that’s just me. And I really don’t have anything else to add so let’s get busy with it and get ‘er done. Let’s do this…
1. Asuka will win the Smackdown Women’s Championship at TLC.
FACT: It makes the most sense to me. Becky needs to have a purpose and reason to go to RAW and challenge / be a thorn in the side of Ronda Rousey. Charlotte has aleady been the champion several times so what’s the point in having her repeat. And Asuka is kick-ass and deserves a run with the title. So have Asuka pin Charlotte and they can fight over the title for a while while Becky won’t be champion anymore, but won’t have actually been beaten for the belt so she stays strong too. If Asuka wins, it’s a win – win for everyone involved. Hell, I just want Asuka to win and that’s what I predicted in my prediction column so who needs a reason? Asuka wins.
2. Nia Jax defeating Ronda Rousey at TLC would be a horrible booking decision.
FACT: Even having Nia as the top challenger for the RAW title and Rousey is, in my opinion, a horrible booking decision and if she should actually win, that would be almost as stupid as having Shane McMahon win the “Best In The World” tournament or having Drake Maverick pee on himself or… *sighs* I keep forgetting that this is WWE and stupid booking decisions are actually kind of common. Next thing you know, they’ll make Heath Slater a referee. Oh wait! Damn! But this one, even WWE has realize would be a bad call. Ronda should retain and retain strongly. The money is Ronda versus Becky and a loss to Nia by Rousey would not help get to that point in any way, shape or form.
3. Baron Corbin will “defeat” Braun Strowman at TLC.
FICTION: While things could really be more interesting keeping Corbin as the GM, with restrictions placed on him by Vince McMahon when Vince ahows up on RAW Monday, I think we’ll see Braun, injured or not, run over Baron and maybe with an assist from referee Heath Slater, pull a Hardy and DELETE Corbin from any kind of authority role. Truth be told, I would rather see Corbin “win” and see what happens next, but that won’t happen. Braun will win, Angle will be back as GM and Monday nights will get same old / same old all over again.
4. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Champion Becky Lynch SHOULD main event TLC on Sunday.
FACT: This is the match that most people are looking forward to and wanting to see. It’s arguably the three best wrestlers in WWE today, of either gender, and it’s a TLC match at a show called “TLC”. If that’s not a reason to have this match close the show, I don’t know what is. These women are making history and this match, which I expect to steal the show, should be treated with the respect and signifigance it deserves.
5. You’re excited for a possible AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton WrestleMania match.
FICTION: I’m not totally opposed to the idea because it’d be a good match and something new and fresh, but there’s that little problem of Randy Orton being involved. I don’t really give a damn about Randy and he pretty much bores the hell out of me. I know that’s not a fair way to answer this question, but I don’t want to see Randy wrestle anyone. Let Bray Wyatt step in and battle against AJ and Randy can go do commentary on the Kick-Off Show panel instead. I don’t watch that anyway so it’d definitely be more entertaining for me that way.
6. What is your excitement level for WWE TLC?
Probably an 8 out of 10. The show is loaded and jacked up and it’s a very strong card that doesn’t really have any bad matches advertised. While the thoughts of seeing Nia in a main event match or watching Randy and Rey fight does nothing for me, the matches will still no doubt deliver. I expect this to be a great show from start to finish and well worth watching every moment.
And there you go. So what do you think? Thoughts and comments are welcome. And by the way, thank you for reading. Don’t forget to watch WWE TLC tomorrow night on The Network. Go read my prediction column too and let me know what you think and who you think will be taking that trip to the pay window with each match. Have a great one and stay awesome. I’m down and gone. Take care.
