10 Days Of Dougie – Day 7
Lou Dog, Disney & 10 Things You Didn’t Know
January 23, 2019
Have you been watching the news? How quickly the media jumped on the cases of those high school kids for allegedly getting in the faces of the older man and being the racist bastards that they obviously were, the media and everyone on social media ripped them a new one. Death threats against them and their families. Threats to blow up their school. Threats of violence against these guys. And then more video comes out. There were others there calling them (the high school kids) racist names and names like “faggots” and “crackers”. They called them “inbred” and the older indian man who has changed his story many times since all of this made the news, he approached the guys who were just standing there. They were standing there, waiting on a bus, but since they were white and since they wore a “Make America Great Again” Trump hat, they were automatically assumed to be at blame and the cause of any and all problems. They never said a word as the people called them names, got in their faces and hurled insult after insult their direction. And where is the media now that everything they reported and said was proven and shown to be lies and wrong? Do I hear crickets? These kids have been threatened and their lives shattered and shot to hell, their reputations damaged and dragged into the mud and where are the apologies and media? I guess since they’re Trump supporters, it’s all okay and good. No, it’s not. If the media had watched all the video and actually paid attention for a moment instead of rushing to get a story out there that wasn’t even a story that they thought would look bad on President Trump, a lot of pain and hurt could have been avoided.
Jamie Lee Curtis made some statements and then came back and had the good sense to apologize for rushing to judgement. Debra Messing (of Will & Grace) said that the kids should be assaulted and has yet to retract her statement or apologize for anything. That says a lot about her, doesn’t it? I guess I won’t waste my time watching Will & Grace anymore, not so long as that spiteful wench is one of the stars. If Roseanne was fired for her tweet about Valerie Jarrett, why isn’t Debra Messing held to the same standard and fired from her show? What she said about those kids offends me far more than anything that Roseanne has ever said. It’s messed up and totally sucks. But it’s against white people and against Trump so who cares, right? Maybe after this big dose of “we f*cked up”, the media will start fact-checking and doing their homework with a story rather than just jumping the gun and telling lies and half-truths just because it’s anti-Trump. I doubt it though.
And enough on that. Let’s move on and get to the reason we’re here and that’s Day 7 of the infamous blog series, “The Ten Days Of Dougie”. Let’s get that Magic Bag out and see what we have on the agenda for the day. We have: Lou Dog, Disney & 10 Things You Didn’t Know. Okay, an eclectic selection to work with and I have no idea where I’m going to go with any of these topics. I guess that’s why this is so much fun, right? *sighs* Let’s do this…
A/N: I wrote that and went to bed. I’m doing that a lot lately. And now, it’s 5:00am and I just woke up. I’m wide awake and actually feeling pretty good. Far better than I was earlier anyways. So with a whole new energy and self-awareness, it’s a whole new day and mood. Let’s rock…
Lou Dog was the dalmation that belonged to and was the sidekick for Bradley Nowell, the lead singer for Sublime. Brad had Lou Dog with him by his side when Sublime did their shows, write their songs, made their videos and unfortunately, when he passed away from a drug overdose back in 96, just weeks before the release of Sublime’s first mainstream and big label debut album, also called “Sublime”. The album was great and a big hit and unfortunately, Bradley never got to see it happen. But Lou Dog did and was a big part of the videos that the band made to help promote the songs. There was lots of video available featuring the band doing live shows and that, spliced in with new video of Lou Dog and the other two band members and other scenes and activities and it all worked out quite well. The band and their videos got lots of airplay on MTV, the songs were hits, Bradley, despite being no longer of the mortal coil, became well known and his music and vocal talents reached superstar status and Lou Dog became, in many ways, the face of the band, taking the place of his human master and best friend. And Lou Dog passed away from old age, raised by Bradley’s daughter, ex-wife and father, nearly a dozen years later from old age, finally getting to move on and be with his beloved master, Bradley, reunited in rock & roll heaven. As Bradley said in one of the songs, a Top 40 hit, “living with Lou Dog is the only way to stay sane”. And so it was. Let’s move on.
The most evil place on Earth. Yes, I know that the home of The Mouse has a reputation as a place of magic and creativity and where dreams become real and all that is well and good comes to life. I get it. They own Mickey and Donald Duck and Peter Pan and Winnie The Pooh. They own Star Wars. And most importantly to me, being a comic book guy, they own Marvel Comics, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and make all the great movies that are dominating at the box office and one of which, The Black Panther, has been nominated for five Academy Awards. They have Disney Land and Disney World and are one of the biggest and most important companies in the history of the universe. They’re big. Very very big. I know and get all of that.
But I’ve read the books. The tell-all stories about the dirt and scandals behind the scenes. The stories that no one wants to talk about in public and how people who have dared to cross the Mouse have had their lives destroyed. How Disney have blatantly stolen movie scripts and ideas that they then turned into major franchises, but no money or credit goes to the actual creators, but instead only lawsuits and total disregard. See “The Lion King” for a great example of this. They totally stole the idea and everything about it, made a billion bucks and the actual true creator, they didn’t get crap. But that’s part of what happens when you deal with The Mouse. They have their own laws, their own rules, their own ways of being and doing things and demand total control and make like Christian Gray in “50 Shades of Gray” with their employees and properties.
I’m not denying that Walt Disney himself wasn’t a creative guy and that the company he created isn’t full of good ideas and creative magic. They are, but they’re not all goodness and angels either. And Walt. He’s frozen in a box somewhere like a package of frozen peas, just waiting to be thawed out one day and brought back to feast on small children and their dreams or so I’ve heard.
But what do I care? Just keep bringing my comic book heroes to life. Keep making the comics and the movies and allow me to write the occasional fan fic story and we’re good. I know my role. All bow to the mouse and we’re all happy. And I’m ready to move on so let’s do that. Yay Mickey. Next!
10 Things You Didn’t Know…
So my question here is should this be personal and be ten things that you don’t know about me, your ever so humble author or just ten things of general trivia that you probably didn’t know. Which direction should I take this? How about a little bit of both? Thank goodness for Google, right. Sounds good to me. Meaningless trivia mixed with the occasional Dougie nugget. So exciting and yay-ful. Oh vey!
10. Murray Head, who did the 80’s song, “One Night In Bangkok”, starred for many years in the UK’s live version of the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”, as Judas and is the older brother of actor Anthony Stewart Head, who played Giles in the show “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”.
9. I have written 65 stories over at Fanfiction.net about Wrestling, Dark Shadows, WKRP in Cincinnati, Misc. Tv Shows, Calvin & Hobbes, Parodies and Spoofs, General Hospital, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Avengers, Vampires, Avengers, All In The Family, X-Men, NCIS, Marvel, Saved By The Bell, and The Munsters. 5. I have never used Cher, Emimem, Regis, Jeff Foxworthy, Buff Bagwell or Vince Russo in my fic stories? I’ve never used Alice, Waylon or Paul Lynde either. Hard to believe, isn’t it. That may change though.

3. The Atlantic Ocean is saltier than the Pacific Ocean.”
And I’m quitting right here. This is getting all lame and crap and I don’t feel like doing the last two. So you got 8 things that you probably didn’t know, only two about me and six just random and all that. And I’m through for now. I’m feeling kind of bad and through with all of this. I need to go shower and get ready for the doctor this AM anyways. So I’m gone. Questions and all that, holler at me. I’ve got to go now. I loves ya. Until the next time, take care.
