Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE Money In The Bank 2019
Thoughts & Predictions
May 17, 2019
Coming up on Sunday on the WWE Network is the WWE’s latest PPV offering, WWE Money In The Bank. It’s a stacked show of course and should be an excellent event. Anyhow, it’s time to break out the crystal ball, shuffle a few Tarot cards and do run through the matches, doing that prediction thing. With 11 matches on the show, I believe that this should be all the matches for the night, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ryder & Hawkins defend the RAW Tag Titles on the Kick-Off Show against either the Viking Raiders or The Revival again. We’ll have to wait and see on that. As for the rest of the matches, let’s all put on a fake accent and do this. And away we go…
WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles, for the first time ever.
Just so you know, this is not their first time ever. It is the first time they’ve faced each other in a singles match in WWE, but there was a time before, many years ago, that AJ and Tylder Black, Seth before he was Seth, faced off and competed in a match for an Indy show. This should be an epic match for the ages and depending upon how well these two click, it could a a 2019 version of Flair – Steamboat. These guys are that good. I don’t really think we’ll be seeing a title change happening just yet though. I think WWE has Seth as the champ for a while yet to come and while AJ may get a run with Universal gold at some point, I don’t think it’s time just yet.
Winner and STILL WWE Universal Champion: Seth Rollins
WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens.
Much like Seth, I think that WWE has plans for Kofi for a while as the WWE Champion and while Kevin will take the fight to him, I don’t think it’s time for him to wear that gold belt just yet. I think we’ll see some New Day shenanigans by Xavier Woods and a DQ win for Kevin. Maybe some Sami Zayn too, but I think that Kofi will keep the title via a little controversy and we’ll see the start of issues between Kofi and Xavier as this feud continues.
Winner by DQ: Kevin Owens (Kofi retains the WWE title).
WWE Raw Champion Becky Lynch vs. Lacey Evans.
This is one of two title defenses by Becky and this one is against the “Lady of WWE”, Lacey Evans. I really can’t see Becky winning both of her matches on this night, but the question is, which blonde vixen, Charlotte or Lacey, will walk away with gold? Charlotte is a multiple-time champ and doesn’t need the belt to be over. She’s a Flair and that’s definitely enough. I think that the well dressed Diva with the mean right will surprise everyone here tonight.
Winner and NEW RAW Women’s Champion: Lacey Evans
WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair.
Becky versus Charlotte has happened so many times and yet it never gets old. If Lacey wins the red title belt, I think Becky will find a way to keep the blue one. And that means Charlotte is going down.
Winner and STILL Smackdown Live Women’s Champion: Becky Lynch
Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Sami Zayn vs. Ricochet vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Baron Corbin vs. Finn Balor vs. Mustafi Ali vs. Andrade vs. Randy Orton.
Let’s go ahead and take the “not gonna happen” characters out of the match right now. Ricochet, Finn Nalor, Mustafi Ali and Andrade are not going to win this match. And I don’t think Randy will either because it’s too obvious that he’s the favorite and there’s a been there – done that with Randy. So that leaves Corbin, McIntyre and Zayn. Baron won last year so I don’t think that, even though Vince seems to love him, that he’ll be repeating. Drew, when he wins the Universal Championship eventually, I think it will be a straight up fight with a clean win. I can see the most story and chaos with Sami Zayn having that contract in his hands. I think Zayn will end up pulling the upset and winning it all.
Winner: Sami Zayn
Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Nikki Cross vs. Dana Brooke vs. Natalya vs. Naomi vs. Bayley vs. Ember Moon vs. Carmella vs. Mandy Rose.
Good girls are not going to win so that pretty much eliminates Natayla, Naomi, Bayley and Ember Moon. I’d love to see Carmella take it again, but I don’t think we’ll have anyone repeating and she’s already won it twice. Mandy Rose is maybe a dark horse favorite, but I just can’t see her getting any kind of major singles push. That leaves Dana Brooke and Nikki Cross. Dana has busted her ass and worked so hard, she deserves this big time, but I think that the character of crazy that is Nikki Cross makes for the most interesting way to go. She wasn’t even originally in the match and now, I think she’ll end up winning it all.
Winner: Nikki Cross
WWE United States Champion Samoa Joe vs. Rey Mysterio.
So does Dominic turn on his father and join the Samoa Joe alliance or does Joe go after Dominic, causing Rey to be distracted and suffer a major beating? Either way, it’s all going to end the same. Joe wins and retains the U.S. Championship.
Winner and STILL United States Champion: Samoa Joe
Elias vs. Roman Reigns.
WWE may stand for Walk With Elias, but even with the aid of Lashley and maybe Corbin, we all know that in the end, it’s time for the “Big Dog” to chow on some Elias-flavored Kibble.
Winner: Roman Reigns
The Miz vs. Shane McMahon – Steel Cage Match.
A steel cage may be designed to keep others out, but I have a feeling that we’ll still see some Elias and Lashley getting involved in this match. Shane will be “Superman” and dominate most of the match, but I think that this fight has run it’s course and it’s time for the Hollywood A-Lister to move on and for Super-Shane to do so as well. Shane will dominate, but when that final bell rings, the man who gets his arm raised will be Maryse’s baby-daddy… and that will be AWESOME!
Winner: The Miz
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese vs.Ariya Daivari.
Tony Nese is a talented guy and a great wrestler, but I’ve been a fan of Ariya since the days of MySpace and I ain’t gonna give up on my boy now.
Winner and NEW Cruiserweight Champion: Ariya Daivari
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan & Rowan vs. the Usos
The Usos are from RAW, but how are they wrestling for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles again? Must be part of that Wild Card crap again. This should be a fun match to watch. I like the odd pairing of Bryan and Rowan. I just wish they could find a spot for Harper too. I look for The Revival to get involved in retaliation for the antics and humiliation that the Usos have pulled at their expense over the past few weeks. No title change here as Bryan and Rowan retain the gold.
Winners and STILL WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions: Daniel Bryan and Rowan.
And there you go. The card on Sunday, WWE Money In The Bank, looks like a stacked and exciting card and I’m looking forward to it. So who do you think will be the winners and losers of this big Sunday night event? Let me know in the comments. Any comments, thoughts or questions, drop me a line. And with that, I’m out of here. My thanks for reading. Until the next time, take care and have a great one. I’ll see you at the matches.
