These have been sitting and waiting in my inbox for over a week. My apologies to Jay for taking so long to reply, but now, reply I will. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. The questions are from Jay from CT. And the answers? Well, you already know that. Let’s do this…
1.) Do you think The Miz as a face is working this time better than the last time they tried it?
I think this time around, it’s working much better. With the reality show, a baby daughter and another on the way, plus the inclusion of his father into the story, Miz has been humanized and made into a likable character. People always liked him, but now he’s given us a reason to do so out loud. Plus when you factor in that he’s been getting screwed over repeatedly by a McMahon, that is just the icing on the cake. Miz would have to do something pretty terrible to ever go back to being a full fledged heel again.
2.) Making The Revival a joke is helping how exactly?
It gives Vince his jollies and makes him feel that they’re “paying the price for disrespecting him by wanting to leave the WWE”. And actually, I think it’s helping The Revival because it shows how professional they are and that they can do any time of scenario. It’s drawing them more fans and making them look sympathetic to the Vince haters.
3.) Was the scramble match one of your least favorite gimmicks WWE had?
It doesn’t quite live up to the ever so awesome “Hog Pen Matches” that WWE had in the past, but it was pretty damn bad and should never, ever be done again.
4.) Do you think we’ll ever see The Rock wrestle a match again?
Honestly, I don’t think so. I think we’ll see a promo or appearance every so often by “The Great One” and maybe even a “Rock Bottom” and “People’s Elbow” for the occasional jabroni, but so far as one on one, a full fledged match? Nope, those days are over and through for Mr. Johnson.
5.) What’s worse: A hot summer or a cold winter?
A hot summer. With the cold, you can put on more clothes and turn up the heat, but with the hot, humid summer, you can only take just so many clothes off before you’re arrested for indecent exposure. And don’t we all hate it when that happens?
6.) If AEW starts off hot does Vince panic or continue to be stubborn and change nothing?
Well, AEW has started off hot with the “Double or Nothing” event this past Saturday and if RAW and Smackdown were any indication, it’s more of the same. Vince won’t change unless he’s forced to and a hot start won’t be enough for that. When the new show starts, that might be another story, but for now, just expect to see Vince keep on keeping on and more of the same.
7.) Is the Zayn gimmick going anywhere?
Well, it was probably the best thing on RAW this past Monday night, when Zayn name-dropped “AEW” and the crowed came alive. It’s not much to be honest, but it’s getting Sami on TV regularly and getting him some good matches so I won’t complain too much.
8.) How long is Jeff Hardy supposed to be out?
I don’t know. I think I heard 4 – 6 months, but given Hardy’s history of injuries and age, I would probably say it’s safe not to expect him back until around Royal Rumble time if that.
9.) Could you see Rollins holding the title all the way till Mania to face Roman?
I could see it, but it’s not likely. When the ratings are sliding, as they are now, hot-shot title changes and Brock Lesnar seem to be one of Vince’s favorite counters to “fic things”. We’ll see at least two Universal Championship title changes between now and next year’s Mania.
10. ) How long is the Wildcard rule supposed to last?
As long as Vince wants it.
And there you go. Questions, comments and any thoughts, drop me a line here at the site or at my e-mail of Doug28352@yahoo.com. Thanks for reading. And with that, I’m out of here. Time to get ready for work. Take care and have a great one.
