Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Sasha Banks, Jinder Mahal, Global Force Wrestling & More
June 23, 2019
More playing catch-up with a series of questions from Michael. Let’s do this…
What’s going on with Sasha Banks?
Banks is currently on hiatus from the WWE, allegedly upset that she and Bayley dropped the Women’s Tag Team Championship to the Iiconics rather than get a longer reign as the champions. She has asked for her release from the company, but was told no by WWE and since then, has refused to come to work and wrestle, but she has met with WWE officials and has done some appearance regarding video game stuff. I expect we’ll be seeing her back on WWE TV sooner rather than later.
What’s going on with Luke Harper?
Harper has also asked for a release from WWE, but was also and his contract was extended for time out due to injury. Right now, he’s not being used by WWE and either waiting for a chance to wrestle to come up or his contract to expire, whichever comes first.
Did WWE get upset that Bret Hart appeared on AEW Double or Nothing after giving him a second Hall of Fame ring?
I can’t imagine that they were very happy about it, but Bret is not under contract to WWE and is a free agent who can do whatever he wants to do. There is nothing they can do about it.
Speaking of Bret, why is it that they never really attributed Natalya to her Dad and moreso to Bret until Anvil died? I always thought that was messed up.
I agree that it’s kind of messed up, but Bret is considered to be the bigger name and bigger star and Anvil was having issues so it was safer for WWE to speak about Bret and that’s what they did.
Get that WWE is trying to build stars for the Indian market. Jinder Mahal didn’t get there and they’re trying too hard with Ali. What will it take to get Mansoor over aside from this midcarder battle royale that he won?
Well, considering that Mansoor is from Saudi Arabia and not Indian, I don’t think his slight push winning the “mid-carder battle royal” as you described it, is going to matter to the Indian market in the slightest. The Singh Brothers, Jinder, Ali and the Daivari Brothers are probably the best bets that WWE has going on right now and as they recruit and develop more talent from that part of the world, things will get better and improve. It’s just a matter of time.
Is the Kofi Kingston main event run a complete success yet, or do you see him as a transitional champion?
I don’t really think it’s a major success yet, but more of a work in progress. He’s been the champ for several months now so if it was transitional, the change to the next champion probably would have happened by now. So to answer your question, he’s not transitional, but it’s not a total success yet either. Only time will tell how it all works out in the end.
Do you think AEW are getting too announcement heavy lately since they’re making a big deal about signing announcers on their social media? I’m kind of put off anymore from following everything they put out and just want to get to the show.
Some fans want to know this stuff and anything that AEW can do to keep the name out there until they’re ready to begin the new show and take on WWE is probably a good idea. The announcers, the wrestlers, the bookers and agents, etc, matter and AEW is just making the most out of every new name that they can.
Do you see Baron Corbin getting the strap anytime soon, since he has the bragging rights of defeating Angle?
It’s a possibility that he may become champion tonight at Stomping Grounds, but I surely hope not.
Is Global Force Wrestling dead?
YES! Impact Wrestling destroyed the master tapes of the original GFW TV tapings and Jeff Jarrett is now working as an agent for the WWE. Jarrett has a lawsuit in play against Impact Wrestling right now about the GFW product, but for all practical purposes, GFW is dead!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Thoughts, comments and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Until the nex time, take care and I’ll see you at the matches.
