WWE Extreme Rules: Thoughts & Predictions
More Matches Added
July 14, 2019
WWE has added two extra matches to an already stacked event and surprise, it’s not even the match that I was expecting and did a bonus prediction for in my earlier prediction column. No, that would be too easy. Instead, WWE has decided to add an Intercontinental Championship defense by Finn Balor against Shinsuke Nakamura and a match with the “Worst In The World” Kevin Owens taking on Dolph Ziggler. I thought that I was through with my Sister Cleo routine for the day, but alas, I guess not so here we go. Where my Magic 8 Ball at? Let’s do this…
Dolph Ziggler versus Kevin Owens.
Kevin unleashed a major “shades of CM Punk” pipe-bomb promo against Shane McMahon earlier this week and I expect that the Sweaty One and his team of hitmen and henchman will not allow that to go unpunished. With that in mind, I don’t think Dolph will be going into this fight alone so expect some shenanigans from some people, Sami Zayn perhaps if the house shows tell us anything, and it should be a good fun brawl. Stone Cold Kevin Owens will kick some booty, but when the bell rings, it’s Dolph Ziggler who will get the big win.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
WWE Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor versus Shinsuke Nakamura
These two men had a hell of a match in Japan and I’m happy to see that Shinsuke has not been forgotten and they will have a chance to do it again for the mainstream WWE fans. I can’t really say that it’s too early for Balor to lose his title, but what has he done since becoming champion? Talk about forgettable reigns and that’s sad. Really it is. But I remember when Shinsuke was the U.S. Champion and he didn’t really have much of a run either and it was equally as forgettable. This will be a fantastic match and of that, I’m sure, but who wins or loses? Who really cares? I like both guys, but the booking and use of both men has been really, really bad. Maybe they can add Rusev to the match and make it better? Probably not. I think we’ll see an epic encounter for the ages and Balor will retain and no one will remember a thing after tomorrow.
Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Finn Balor
And there you go. An update on my predictions for WWE Extreme Rules. My thanks for reading. Any thoughts, comments or questions, drop me a line and give me a shout. Until the next time, take care and I’ll see you at the matches.
