Wrestling Fact or Fiction: Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, Becky Lynch & More…

Wrestlng Fact or Fiction
Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, Becky Lynch & More
December 9, 2019
It’s time once again to look at different statements about the world of the greatest sport ever, courtesy of Jake Chambers and 411mania.com, and try to decide if they’re correct, not correct or just plain malarky. In other words, it’s Fact or Fiction time. Let’s do this…

Statement #1: You can make the case for Seth Rollins as WWE Wrestler of the Year.

FACT: Seth has been the top guy for WWE for most of the year and with that win over Brock to start things rolling, he’s been non-stop top dog ever since. A case can also be made for “The Man” Becky Lynch and for Kofi Kingston and his “Cinderella ride” to the WWE Championship. Who had the better year? Arguments can be made for each of these performers and for several others as well, but the way the question is framed, Seth definitely is in the running for WWE Wrestler of the Year.

Statement #2: The NJPW tag team wrestling division is terrible.

FACT: There really isn’t all that much to speak of when the tag team scene of New Japan is the topic of discussion. EVIL & Sanada and The Bullet Club are the only two teams I can name off the top of my head and that took some help from Wikipedia. This is the time of year that New Japan has their World Tag League series of shows and it’s mostly makeshift teams thrown together to act as filler and fill up space on the roster. New Japan does some things very well, but having a strong tag team division of top teams and strong players, that hasn’t been one of them for quite a while now.

Statement #3: Chris Jericho as the first ever AEW Champion was clearly the right decision.

FACT: Jericho was the right man at the right time and has done a good job, despite the growing pains that AEW has been having, of being consistent and strong for the company. Maybe Cody or Adam Page would have worked out better in setting the pace for the new company, but Jericho continues to shine when everything else is hot or miss for the company. Jericho is a known and safe commodity that fans can identify with and feel comfortable with and can depend on to entertain and infuriate them at the same time. Right man and right time for the right champion, Chris Jericho.

Fact or Fiction – Quick Hits
– one sentence is all you need for this FoF lightning round!

1. Leaping Lanny Poffo was a great poet.

FACT: When it came to being a poet, Poffo was truly a genius.

2. The WWE Network is legitimately “award-winning”.

FACT: They have the trophies and plaques to show for it so I would say that yes, they are legit “award winning”.

Statement #4: Becky Lynch will never main event another Wrestlemania.

FICTION: Wrestlemania has several matches that are considered by Vince and WWE brass as “Main Events” and Becky is still hot enough and good enough that if the right angle and opponent is there, she can and will be a part of one of these “main event slots” and it will be earned and well deserved. Maybe even this April against Shayna Baszler? Becky has earned that “spot” and she is viewed as a main event star so being part of one of the top matches at Mania in future years is not a far fetched idea by any means.

Statement #5: You have something to say about the Mauro Ranallo/Corey Graves situation.

FACT: I’ve addressed this already in one of my “Ultimate Q&A’s” so I’ll keep it short here. Graves should be more careful about his tweets and if he’s working an angle, make sure that the others involved know it’s an angle. As for Mauro, I feel for you dude. Been dealing with anxiety and depression for most of my life and it’s a bitch. But you have responsibilities and a job to do with NXT and the WWE and if you can’t do that job because your feeling were hurt, you don’t need to be there. Suck it up man! Mauro is a damn good commentator, but wrestling is not a business for fragile egos and people with thin skins. Get over it and get back to work or else go somewhere else. Period!

Statement #6: Watching pro-wrestling makes you feel happy most of the time.

FACT: I’m a life-long wrestling fan and it’s one of the few enjoyments and pleasures of life I still have. I gave up drinking and drugs long ago and I’m too fat and ugly for sexcapades so wrestling it is. Good wrestling, good characters and stories that make sense make me smile. Stupid crap and bad angles and sucky matches make me frown. Wrestling is real – life is fake. I like good wrestling and yes, it makes me feel like a kid again. That’s a good thing.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts or questions, drop me a line here at the site or at my e-mail of Doug28352@yahoo.com. Yeah, I may have been a little rough towards Mauro, but I know the deal and if you can’t stand the heat, you know the rest. Have a great one, stay safe and I’ll see you at the matches. I love you Fam.
