NWA Hard Times: Thoughts & Predictions

NWA Hard Times
Thoughts & Predictions
January 23, 2020

The National Wrestling Alliance will present Hard Times this Friday on FITE.TV and thus, that means its time to break out the crystal ball and do some of that fortune-telling and Magic 8-Ball stuff. Let’s do this…

NWA Champion Nick Aldis vs. Flip Gordon.

The build for this has been done and it should be an epic match for both men. I predict several near falls and dramatic moments that have the fans sitting at the edge of their seats. But Aldis has been an amazing champion for the NWA thus far and has much more to offer and do for the historic promotion. He’ll lose the NWA Championship eventually, but today will not be the day. Gordon will take Aldis to the limit, but at the end of the night, Mickie James’ hubby will have his arm raised and retain his ten pounds of gold.

Winner and STILL NWA World Champion: Nick Aldis

NWA Women’s Champion Allysin Kay vs. Thunder Rosa (with Melina)

Given Kay’s recent comments about Tessa Blanchard, I just want to see her lose that title and just go away. Yeah, I think she’s a pinhead. But that has nothing to do with this match and she is a good wrestler. So is Thunder Rosa. Kay will probably retain, but I don’t want her too and I do like Melina (although I would never date her) so I’ll pull for the challenger anyways. New champion with Thunder Rosa.

Winner and NEW NWA Women’s Champion: Thunder Rosa w/ Melina

NWA Tag Team Champions The Rock N’ Roll Express vs. James Storm & Eli Drake vs. The Wild Cards.

As much as I love Ricky & Robert and enjoy seeing them holding tag team gold at this point in their career, it’s not realistic and can’t continue. The belts are changing hands and the only question is which team will take the belts away from the Rock & Rollers? Well, my opinion is that at the end of the night, we’ll be telling the Wild Cards, “Sorry about your damn luck!”. James Storm and Eli Drake are taking home the gold.

Winners and NEW NWA World Tag Team Champions: James Storm & Eli Storm

NWA National Champion Aron Stevens vs. Scott Steiner.

The one-time Damien Sandow taking on Big Poppa Pump for the NWA National Championship. This won’t be pretty, but it will be fun to watch. I think that Steiner is the face here, but with characters like these, what do cheers and boos matter? Steiner is still in great shape and crazy as ever so he’ll probably dominate most of the match, but we all know that Stevens is an intellectual and a thinking man’s performer. In the end, brains will overcome brute power and the National Championship will remain with the champion.

Winner and STILL NWA National Champion: Aron Stevens

NWA TV Title Tournament:

Trevor Murdoch vs. The Question Mark

I think Trevor should win it all, but he probably won’t. He will win this match to go to the semi-finals though.

Winner: Trevor Murdoch

Zicky vs. Dan Maff

What is a Zicky? At least I know who DanMaff is. Maff wins.

Winner: Dan Maff

Ricky Starks vs. Cross

I’m not sure about either of these guys so random guess time? Ricky has the same last name as Iron Man. He wins and moves on.

Winner: Ricky Starks

Ken Anderson vs. Tim Storm

This one could go either way and I feel that the winner of this match will be the one who advances and ends up as the new NWA Television Champion. I like Storm better, but Anderson just feels more right so let’s go with Mr. Anderson… Anderson.

Winner: Ken Anderson

Trevor Murdoch versus Dan Maff / Ricky Starks versus Ken Anderson

Look for Murdoch to win over Maff and for Anderson to take out Starks to advance to the final match.

Winners: Trevor Murdoch and Ken Anderson

NWA World Television Championship Match
Trevor Murdoch versus Ken Anderson

As I said earlier, I like Trevor and think he would be a great person to be crowned the first NWA TV Champion of the modern era NWA, but my gut feeling says Anderson and when you have a gut this big, you have to listen. So Trevor gives a great fight and in the end, the self-proclaimed Asshole takes home the title belt.

Winner and NEW NWA Television Champion: Ken Anderson

And there you go. Am I right? Am I wrong? We’ll find out Friday. It’s good to see the NWA back in business and slowly, but surely gaining more prestige and growing each day. NWA Power is still the best week in and week out wrestling program available today. Check it out and check this pay-per-view out if you get the chance.

Thank you for reading. Until the next time, take care of yourself and don’t forget to support your local Indy Wrestling promotions. I’ll see you at the matches.
