Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE Super Showdown
Thoughts & Predictions
February 26, 2020
Coming up tomorrow in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is WWE Super Showdown. It doesn’t look as if anyone will be celebrating Rusev Day, but there will still be a packed card of great wrestling action. Let’s break out the crystal ball and do some of that prediction stuff we all know and love so well.
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Ricochet
While I have a lot of love and respect for Ricochet, I have some sobering news for him. Brock isn’t flying to Saudi Arabia just to lose his championship. The match that everyone is wanting to see at Mania is Brock versus CM Punk. No, that’s just me. We want Brock versus Drew McIntyre and that’s what we’re going to get. Ricochet will look great here and come just oh so close, but when it’s over, Brock will still be the WWE Champion.
Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Brock Lesnar
‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Goldberg
Who’s next to be the Universal Champion? It won’t be Goldberg. I’m interested in seeing how The Fiend gets over with the Saudi audience. I also hope that they left that annoying red light at home in Stamford. Goldberg will take it to Bray and just as Ricochet tried, he’ll come just so very close, but HE is not giving up the title that easily. Just let him in because he will remain the WWE Universal Champion.
Winner and STILL WWE Universal Champion: The Fiend Bray Wyatt
Steel Cage Match:
Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin
Another back and forth of the feud that has seemingly lasted forever. I would like to see Corbin win and take Roman out once and for all. I also like peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. Roman with a spear and the win.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Smackdown Tag Team Titles:
The New Day (c) vs. John Morrison & The Miz
It’s a bad day for The New Day. They’re stale and it’s like being in the movie “Groundhog Day”. It never changes. It’s time to switch things up and I think that Miz & Morrison are the men to do it.
Winners and NEW Smackdown Tag Team Champions: The Miz & John Morrison
Smackdown Women’s Title: Bayley (c) vs. Naomi
History will be made for only the second time as the women will be wrestling in Saudi Arabia. And this time, it’s for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Bayley is safe and won’t make anyone mad, but I wonder how the Saudi’s will like “The Glow”? I don’t think we’ll see quite as much of an entrance for this event as Naomi usually gets. But in the end, the ‘glow’ will still shine brightly because we’ll be seeing a new champion.
Winner and NEW WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion: Naomi
Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match:
AJ Styles vs. R-Truth vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Erick Rowan vs. Andrade vs. Bobby Lashley
I’m sure that every single wrestler here has told himself many times that “My career won’t be complete until I win the Tuwaig Trophy”. What the hell is a “Tuwaig” anyhow? Rusev has been removed from the match and is staying at home and that sucks, especially since this event is taking place on Rusev Day. *Sighs* Let’s go through the participants and decide who will win this epic honor. AJ is getting geared up for a possible match with Undertaker at Mania so he doesn’t need this win and will instead if the rumors are true, be busy setting up that match. (SPOILER: The Undertaker is in Saudi Arabia!) Mysterio annoys me and Rowan just doesn’t seem to work for me either so they’re both out. Lana is in Saudi Arabia so that makes Lashley a possibility. Andrade is alone as Zelina Vega didn’t make the trip to Saudi Arabia so he’s not winning and he can blame his lack of success on Zelina’s absence. And R-Truth? I heard a rumor that Little Jimmy might be there and Truth has a new single and music video out. So while Lashley is the likely pick, I’ll go with Truth. And that’s what’s up.
RAW Tag Team Titles:
Seth Rollins & Murphy (c) vs. The Street Profits
Seth and Murphy are still relatively new as the tag team champions for RAW and even though they don’t need the titles, I don’t think it’s time for them to lose the belts just yet either. Besides, I like the tension it breeds to have Seth and (Not Your Buddy) Murphy holding the tag belts while AOP, their partners are wanting those belts. Watch the eyes on AOP when Seth brags about being the tag team titleholders. It’s coming.
Winners and STILL RAW Tag Team Champions: Seth Rollins & Buddy Murphy
Mansoor vs. Dolph Ziggler
They are in Saudi Arabia. Mansoor is NOT going to lose.
Humberto Carrillo vs. Angel Garza
A rematch from the past several weeks of RAW and I expect that this match will be just as fluid and well done as the others have been. I think that Humberto needs to get a win here or else the feud is essentially over.
Angel can blame the loss on his manager, Zelina Vega, not being there so it won’t hurt him a bit.
Winner: Humberto Carrillo
Kickoff Show Match:
The Viking Raiders vs. The OC
If I remember correctly, Luke Gallows’ wife took to social media and blasted the WWE after the last Saudi show when they had those problems getting home. Not to imply that WWE management might hold a grudge, but there is no way that the OC will be winning here. Besides, the faces have to win to start the show off by making the fans happy.
Winners: The Viking Raiders
And there you go. The show will be airing live on the WWE Network tomorrow afternoon. Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart are in Saudi Arabia too so expect some Hulkamania to be running wild. Who do you think will win and lose? Will you be watching? Drop me a line and let me know what you think about this show. I can be reached here at the site, at Doug28352@yahoo.com or on Twitter at @Doug28352. Speak at me, my Peeps.
And with that, I’m down like a clown in downtown Chicago. Have a great one, take care of yourself and join #TheMovement! I’ll see you at the matches.
