Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Riddle vs Goldberg, Roman Reigns, Ultimate Warrior & More
March 31, 2020
My nerves are shot. I love my family. Let’s do the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Thanks to Matt for the questions. Let’s do this…
Mark Henry says that Matt Riddle should have gotten the shot at Goldberg as the replacement for Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania. Do you agree?
I do agree with the World’s Strongest Man. Since Roman was pulled from the match, Riddle makes the most obvious surprise choice. He and Goldberg have a history and it would make for a big Mania moment that fans would relish and enjoy. And I think it would be an excellent match given Riddle’s MMA background and ability. Goldberg could do his spots. Riddle could work around him and get his stuff in. And it would be money. Definitely a far better choice than the one they decided to go with.
What is your favorite moment in TNA history?
I’m not much of a TNA guy, but a moment that stands out for me was when Jim Cornette came on board for a while as the resident Authority Figure. I also enjoyed Joker Sting and the Ric Flair – Jay Lethal “Woooo” encounter.
Who are four wrestlers who have meant a lot in your life?
Michael Youngblood, Ethan Storm, “The Fallen Artist” Derk Douglas & “The Monster” Brad Branson. Four men who are not only talented in that ring and regularly work the NC Indy scene, quite well I might add, but I also consider as good friends and in Michael’s case, family.
Better announce team – Dave Brown & Lance Russell or Bob Caudle & David Crockett?
I’m a North Carolina / Jim Crockett guy. Even though David was annoying at times, it’s Caudle and Crockett all the way for me.
Jim Ross has stated that he felt Ultimate Warrior didn’t respect the business and was a “pain in the ass”. Thoughts?
I know that everyone loves the Warrior now and his passing was a sad thing, but I remember his homophobic comments made quite regularly while he was still living and some of his other rants. I definitely don’t think he was a good person in general and I’m pretty sure that Ross is correct here.
What are your thoughts on WWE taping Wrestlemania 39 as opposed to having it live?
A good move, using the resources available to make sure that the fans get the best matches and show available. It was really the only option that they had and it makes sense.
What is your opinion on Matt Hardy’s performance this week on AEW Dynamite?
While it had a few awkward moments and got a bit strange a few times, it’s Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho. They are two all-time greats and even when they don’t do well, they do better than most of the others on our TV today. No complaints here.
Do you believe that Roman Reigns made the right decision on bowing out of Wrestlemania 36?
Given his health problems and weakened immune system, I think he made the only decision he could. It was definitely the right decision.
What do you think will happen to the Pro Wrestling business, long-term, after the Coronavirus and Recession?
I think some companies will never recover and fail. I think that the bigger companies will have a slow rebound and will have to slowly work their way back to where they were with live crowds and a television audience. Wrestling has, for better or worse, been changed forever because of this insanity and while it will recover, there will be many causalities among the way. Things will never be the same again.
And there you go. My thanks for the questions and to Matt for providing them. I’ll still ill, but feeling much better now. Any comments, thoughts or questions, drop me a line and let’s talk. Until the next time, stay safe and be good. Take care and I’ll catch you on the flip side.
