People around here talk too damn much! I wish I could put the world on mute! *sighs* It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. The questions are from my Facebook timeline. And the answers, that from me, myself, and I. Let’s do this…

What would you change about AEW to give it more of sports feel?

Good question, but I don’t think that the “sports feel” is what AEW has problems with. Consistency with the referees, missed spots, low production values that need to be stepped up a bit, and wrestlers breaking character far too often are the matters that I feel need to be looked at first. And then, a “sports feel” can be looked at. But it’s not a big priority in my mind.

Should Sammy Guevara audition for America’s Got Talent?

No, because that would mean sharing Sammy with the world and possibly losing AEW’s most entertaining wrestler who isn’t named after a fruit or using initials to the world of music and entertainment. Sammy should remain right where he’s at, entertaining the AEW masses with his comedy and singing skills. He’s too good for AEW.

Is the movie “The Wrestler” starring Mickey Rourke an accurate portrayal of professional wrestling?

While there are parts that do ring true, there are also parts that were jazzed up a little for movie enhancement and have to be taken with a grain of salt. In my opinion, the real world of professional wrestling, especially in the ’70s through the ’90s, was far crazier than anything the movie featured or highlighted. It’s a great movie and Mickey Rourke should have gotten an Oscar for that role. But it’s still just a movie and not reality.

How do you feel about MJF’s Ric Flair impersonations?
Is he disrespecting Flair?

Impersonation is the sincerest form of flattery. I haven’t seen these impersonations you speak of, but I’m sure that MJF means it as a tribute more than any kind of insult.

Would you like to see Dustin Rhodes hold the AEW title before he retires…or would people whine about it?

Yes, people would whine about it because this is professional wrestling and people whine about anything and everything. But also yes, I would love to see Dustin get a moment, and even if it’s just a week or so, have that AEW World Championship around his waist. He certainly deserves it.

Who are the Top 3 guys in AEW right now?

That I like to see or the top talents in that ring with name recognition and star-power? For the latter, it would be Moxley, Jericho, and Cody. For who I want to see more of, it would be Sammy, MJF, and Jericho.

If you were to get a tattoo representing AEW what would it be?

I’d get an ugly “American Nightmare” tattoo just like Cody did. No, I don’t think so. Maybe an orange?

If you could book one match in AEW What would it be?

How about an AEW Championship match with Jon Moxley defending the AEW belt in a triple-threat match with, representing the Inner Circle, Jake Hagar, and representing the Dark Order, Brodie Lee. Nothing fancy, but I think this would make for a good and fun match.

Who is the first wrestler that comes to mind when you hear the letters “AWA”?

Most would say Verne Gagne or Nick Bockwinkle since Verne was the owner and founder of the AWA and a ten-time Champion, while Nick was the dominant performer in the late ’70s and ’80s and was a five-time Champion in his own right. Others might say Larry Zbyszko since he was the last man to hold the AWA World Championship. But for me, the name that comes to mind first wasn’t ever a champion or even a wrestler but was the long time announcer for the promotion, Larry Nelson. I met Larry via MySpace many years ago and had a few fascinating conversations with him about wrestling and other topics. He was a good dude and fun to talk to and listen to. He passed away back in 2014. RIP Sir.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions to ask, about wrestling or anything, drop me a line here at the site in the comment section, at my e-mail address of Doug28352@yahoo.com, or on Twitter at @Doug28352. And I guess that’s it for now. Time to go eat lunch, wash some clothes, and probably answer some questions from Casper. Have a great one and take care of yourself in this crazy world. Be safe and I’ll see you at the matches.
